Summary

The Field Service Engineer/Specialist will be responsible for installing, servicing, and repairing equipment at the facility and customer locations. This role requires technical expertise and hands-on experience, serving as a key liaison between the company and customers by providing technical solutions and documentation.

The company is a smaller electronics manufacturer specializing in Agricultural, Marine, Industrial, Military, and other rugged markets.

Responsibilities

Technical Support
  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair electronic controls
  • Diagnose and fix equipment in the field and handle product returns
  • Assist production personnel with technical issues
Documentation & Reporting
  • Write service reports based on field findings
  • Read and interpret engineering documents (schematics, drawings, test plans)
Customer Communication
  • Communicate with customers about service needs for products in OEM plants and field support
  • Professionally communicate with customers and vendors to understand and solve field issues, while promoting products
Project Management
  • Work with the field service team to improve project management processes
  • Develop and administer processes to better manage projects or programs
Quality Assurance
  • Familiarity with the "8D" problem-solving process or similar methods
Teamwork
  • Ability to work closely with coworkers and management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 1 year of relevant experience OR an associate degree/technical certificate with 4 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to evaluate, diagnose, and troubleshoot field failures independently, using various tools and creative solutions
  • Knowledge of machine controls, electronic circuits, motors, hydraulics, oscilloscopes, schematics, and embedded software (C/C++)
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Respond to emergency, after hours calls when necessary
