POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Teen Program Supervisor will assist the Teen Development Coordinator to develop, organize and implement high-quality YMCA Teen programs. They will assist the Teen Development Coordinator as delegated in the day-to-day operations of Teen Programs with the main focus on programming support, staff communication, and training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Supervises youth & teens in program activities. Know & lead programs in the teen program area.
  2. Plans and implements culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum & complete all program plans including but not limited to lesson plans, behavior management and event plans.
  3. Assists in maintaining daily staff scheduling including but not limited to securing substitutes, communicating with staff and working in ratio when needed. Monitors substitute requests and follow up with employees as needed.
  4. Assists and supervises program planning and implementation of all week long camps for winter break & spring break; including being the onsite supervisor for these programs.
  5. Assists with implementation of any no-school day programs (teacher workdays, holidays, snow days, etc.); including being in ratio if needed and monitoring for quality.
  6. Organizes & collaborates with special events as assigned including YMCA and community events.
  7. Conducts regular monitoring visits with sites to ensure quality of programs.
  8. Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensure the physical environment supports healthy living.
  9. Maintains necessary equipment/supplies, track inventory and purchase approved supplies as needed.
  10. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  11. Develops and maintains relationships with school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent, and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  12. Professionally communicates as needed, confidential and evaluative information regarding program participants with parents/guardians through various means including but not limited to parent communication and parent/teacher conferences.
  13. Assists in recruitment, hiring, training, developing schedules and directing personnel and volunteers as needed.
  14. Assists in reviewing and evaluating staff performance.
  15. Motivates, retains and coaches staff while working in a team atmosphere
  16. Participates in annual fund-raising campaign and program committees as assigned.
  17. Assists with implementation of YMCA HEPA standards into all programs.
  18. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  19. Assists in auditing and approving timecards for accuracy.
  20. Assists Teen Development Coordinator with duties as assigned and as needed.
  21. Follows organization's policies and procedures regarding protecting youth from abuse; including screening and selection, training and supervision, and responding to allegations. Communicates to all staff and volunteers the organization's commitment to protect youth from abuse.
  22. Follows mandated reporting requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Minimum two years related experience working with youth. Experience with middle school and high school participants, preferred.
  2. Minimum age of 21 years or older.
  3. Ability to perform under deadlines, multi-task, management & group leader skills within a team atmosphere.
  4. Have a firm working knowledge of child development, behavior management, positive conflict resolution and social emotional learning.
  5. Ability to model YMCA core values of respect, responsibility, caring and honesty.
  6. Within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens; Food Handler Permit; YMCA Rockwall Belay Certification
  7. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  8. Basic computer knowledge including but not limited to Microsoft programs, Google, etc.
  9. Person transportation and YMCA van certification required upon hire
  10. Two years of experience supervising others, preferred.
  11. Experience with outdoor recreation (rock climbing, hiking, snowshoeing, camping, etc.), preferred
  12. WFA/WFR, Lifeguard, and Mental Health First Aid certifications, preferred
  13. Experience with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, preferred
  14. Experience with movie editing (i.e. iMovie, Premiere Pro), Sound Production (i.e. Garage band, Podcasting), preferred
