The Whatcom County Library System is accepting applications for a part-time Teen Intern position with the Whatcom County Library System.

SUMMARY: The Teen Intern works with the Youth Services department to provide and support youth-related library service including programming, social media content, and book recommendations, and performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING HOURS: Four (4) regular hours per week; hours to be worked between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday; schedule is flexible and will be determined together with the Teen Services Coordinator and may be adjusted when school schedule changes. Successful candidates may be required to adapt to future schedule and/or worksite changes depending on library needs.
DURATION: This is a 16-week position, with the potential for second 16-week term upon mutual agreement between the Teen Services Coordinator and the Teen Intern.
QUALIFICATIONS: Avid reader of young adult literature; ability to write and produce book reviews; keen interest in learning more about the library and promoting library use among children and teens; ability to maintain a pleasant and productive working atmosphere. Work requires considerable physical effort in the handling of materials up to 30 pounds and/or continual standing or walking 70%+ of the time. Requires the ability to speak, write, and understand English. Must be in grade 10-12, and 16 years of age or older to apply. Must have a library card. The Whatcom County Library System will comply with any pandemic related state or federal mandates and any other COVID mitigation practices deemed appropriate now or in the future.
