SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the Registrar's direction and supervision, the Cohort Enrollment Specialist/Coordinator administers dual-credit, admission, and registration functions with location-based and educational student cohorts across the state including but not limited to St. Paul Island, Metlakatla, Alaska Dental Health Therapy program, dual-credit, and workforce development students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews and determines completeness of admissions files and maintains communication with students during the entire admission and registration process.
  • Coordinates receipt and processing of documents and is responsible for the accuracy, confidentiality and integrity of all student academic records and student data in accordance with management policies and other regulations governing the confidentiality of student records such as the Family Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Assists with degree audits, registration, admission, grade entry, certificate and degree clearance processes in EMPOWER.
  • Assists in all aspects of registration events, graduation processes, and the commencement ceremony.
  • Works collaboratively with Student Services, Financial Aid, Admissions Officer, Business Office, Workforce Development and other departments in coordinating services for students.
  • Completes projects assigned by Registrar to include data analysis and reports on registration and admissions activities.
  • Provides technical and analytical support to the Registrar's Office.
  • Provides policy and status information to prospective students, current students, high school guidance counselors, faculty, administrative staff, and other colleges and universities.
  • Ensures that transcripts and other requests are handled in a timely manner.
  • Complies with FERPA regulations, College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations and ordinances.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated skills using Microsoft Office Products.
  • Ability to establish and coordinate accurate records and information systems.
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical reasoning skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while working independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.
  • Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.
  • Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.
  • Ability to support Iḷisaġvik College's mission.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Required]:
  • Associate's degree.
  • Minimum of two years demonstrated professional administrative work experience with a history of progressively elevated responsibilities
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of three years demonstrated experience in an educational environment.
  • Knowledge of FERPA, academic and business practices of a higher education institution.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Valid driver's license.

Health Insurance - Iḷisaġvik College is self-insured and Meritain Health is the health insurance third party administrator. Iḷisaġvik College offers health insurance to our employees with a no cost premium, and $50/pay period for each additional dependent and a low cost annual deductible of $200 for employee only and $600 for family.

Life Insurance - Iḷisaġvik College offers Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage through Guardian Life to employees at no cost to the employee in the amount of $100,000/per benefit.
