Summary Under general direction, Training and Development Specialists create, develop, implement, and conduct training and development programs for employees. Performs needs assessments with managers and create development plans for departments through surveys, interview focus groups, and communication. Creates, organizes, plans, and presents various forms of onboarding, orientation, and skills training for employees and customers.

Responsibilities Partner with managers on training needs assessments. Works directly with employees and managers, summarizing and documenting participation and providing action plans as necessary. Creates, organizes, plans, and presents various forms of new department employee onboarding, orientation, and skills training for employees as well as managers. Develops unique training programs to fulfill the department’s specific needs to maintain or enhance skillsets. Documents or creates instructional training outlines to include learning objectives, and instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, online training, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops. Administers evaluations and incorporates feedback into training. Support members of the workforce in their efforts to improve their individual level of education, training, skills and professional development by coordinating relationships with organizations offering internships and externships, coordinates learning opportunities for participants. Selects appropriate teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference works. May purchase program materials as needed. Administers, coordinates, or delivers leadership development programs, workshops, or presentations. Maintains knowledge of the latest trends in training and employee development.

Training and Development Specialist II Develops and creates content, including training outlines or plans with clear learning objectives, instructional methods (such as individual training, group instruction, online training, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops), and determines appropriate methods of evaluation. Manage professional development strategies and initiatives. Collects and analyzes metrics to determine program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback. Tracks on-going internal training initiatives, prepares reports on progress and suggests solutions for any issues with progress. Focus on internal employee networks and relationships.

Training and Development Specialist III Train the trainer role, mentors, develops, and guides Trainers I and II through coaching, course audits, delivery audits, and content review. Builds external networks and community partners to create new development opportunities.

Human Resources Administers, coordinates, and implements Board approved scholarship programs, tuition reimbursements and discounts, Native education assistance. Work with Marketing and Communications to develop training flyers, posters and mailers advertising ANTHC’s training and development opportunities. Collaborate with external community partners to coordinate content materials and delivery. Conducts ANTHC training sessions covering specified areas such as on-the-job training, refresher training, or orientations.

Other duties as assigned.

Skill in oral and written communication. Skill in managing multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meeting deadlines. Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others. Skill in operating a computer utilizing a variety of applications. Skill in working independently and responding to changing priorities. Skill in coordinating many departments and individuals for the completion of a single task. Skill in effective presentation and public speaking skills. Skill in developing training content for online delivery. Skill in measuring, compiling and analyzing data for needs assessments.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION Training and Development Specialist I An Associate’s degree in Business, Communications, Education, Health Care, Marketing, or related field. Progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

Training and Development Specialist II, III A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Education, Health Care, Marketing, or related field. Progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

mInimum Experience Qualification Training and Development Specialist I Non-supervisory - Three (3) years of administrative support, Human Resources, supervisory experience or training-related experience.

Training and Development Specialist II Non-supervisory – Five (5) years of training-related experience and/or combination of supervisory experience.

Training and Development Specialist III Non-supervisory – Seven (7) years of training-related experience and/or combination of supervisory experience.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION N/A

PREFERRED EDUCATION QUALIFICATION Training and Development Specialist III Master’s Degree in Business, Communications, Education, Health Care, Marketing, or related field. Progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

Preferred Experience Qualification Prior experience in instructional design, training, or leadership development.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION Training and Development Specialist I N/A

Training and Development Specialist II, III (Human Resources) Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD), Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD), Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT) or related certification. SHRM Certified Professional, or Professional in Human Resources (PHR).
