Position Description:
The Systems Administrator will support the Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC) at Patrick Space Force Base in Florida. This role involves managing and maintaining Windows server environments, ensuring their security, performance, and compliance with DoD standards. The position requires expertise in Windows server administration, virtualization, and Active Directory, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving within a dynamic team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Windows Server Administration: Perform installation, configuration, and administration of Windows Server 2016 and above.
  • Security and Compliance: Address cybersecurity compliance issues, complete STIG checklists, and maintain test plans and hardware inventory. Remediate findings and complete Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) documentation.
  • Virtualization Management: Optimize virtualization performance using VMware and Windows tools. Monitor VM snapshots, adjust performance settings, and collaborate with team members for optimal virtualization strategies.
  • Fault Monitoring and Resolution: Daily monitoring and reporting of hardware/software faults, open service tickets, and collaborate with vendor support for unresolved issues.
  • Technical Support: Provide support for Microsoft Windows servers and VDI, ensuring compliance with DoD, Air Force, and AFTAC policies.
  • Patch Management: Manage server/database patching via Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), ensuring compliance with Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS).
  • Active Directory Management: Perform administrative tasks in Active Directory and Directory Resource Administrator (DRA), including user account management, security group configuration, and stale object removal.
  • File System Management: Configure and maintain NTFS permissions, ACLs, and share permissions.
  • Data Integrity and Backup: Execute system backups, verify data integrity, and perform data restoration across all networks.
  • Migration and Project Management: Coordinate server upgrades, data migrations, and P2V conversions using tools like robocopy and Quest Secure Copy.
  • Job Automation: Develop scripts for job scheduling and automation, leveraging PowerShell and other tools for efficient system management.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain technical documentation, including performance reports and monthly status updates.
  • On-Call Support: Respond to emergency on-call support within one hour, providing telephone and on-site assistance as required.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience working as a Windows Server Administrator.
  • Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Required Certifications:
    • IAT Level 2 Certification: (One of the following required: CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP)
    • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
  • Desired Certifications:
    • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
    • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist: Administering & Deploying SCCM
    • Server+
  • Skills: Proficiency in Windows Server, VMware, Active Directory, and scripting languages. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Security Clearance: Must possess a Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain SCI.
Work Environment:
The Systems Administrator will be primarily based at Patrick SFB in Florida, working within a secured government facility. The role requires strict adherence to security protocols and may involve periodic on-call support to address mission-critical IT system issues outside of normal working hours.
