HOURS: M-F 8-5, Some Sat. 9-12, Flexible (Evening/Weekend as needed)
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly/Non-Exempt TRAVEL / LOCATION: Flexible
JOB SUMMARY: Working with a very diverse patient population, this position will provide relevant assistance to clinical staff in our isolation unit.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of a certified medical assistant program with current certification (preferred but not required).
- High School graduate or GED equivalent
- Experience in a primary care preferred (but not required).
- Reliable transportation between sites required.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).
- Ability to develop collaborative working relationships.
- Ability to function autonomously and discern when to seek direction.
- Demonstrated success in assisting clinical staff with a solid knowledge base of medical practices and procedures within the primary care environment.
- Demonstrated proper knowledge and use of medical devices and equipment.
- Demonstrated ability and familiarity with tools, technology, and systems found within health care environments (such as Basic Computer Skills, Electronic Medical Records).
- Experience with Medent EMR preferred but not required.
- Ability to communicate information through an interpreter.
PATIENT CARE
- Provide direct patient care to patients in isolation for symptomatic and asymptomatic COVID testing. This includes collection of a nasopharyngeal swab.
- Providing health education including COVID-19 awareness and infection prevention control to patients and their families.
- Respecting and adhering to guidelines related to COVID-19 specific and general occupational safety in order to protect themselves, patients, and co-workers including: use of personal protective equipment (PPE), infection control, and waste management.
- Complete all patient charting and ensure all patient records are current/complete with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ensure all clinical care is delivered in a manner that meets or exceeds goals and expectations for clinical outcomes, quality assurance standards, state/local regulations, and patient satisfaction.
- Ensure all actions, personal conduct, and communications represent the organization in a highly professional manner at all times.
- Uphold and ensure compliance to all policies and procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. Exert up to 50lbs. pushing, pulling, or lifting. Walking and climbing stairs required. Able to talk/hear and communicate with others with or without reasonable accommodation.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to travel to and between sites while maintaining standards of safety and compliance with motor vehicle traffic laws. This position may require travel for necessary training and conferences.
