TITLE: Systems Administrator - District

JOB GOAL:
Responsible for the support of students, teachers, and staff in integrating technology into the district educational and instructional strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:
Work experience in technology related fields required. Experience with educational and/or help desk support preferred.

Education:
Associate degree in Computer Technology or related field required, additional industry-recognized certifications preferred.

Knowledge of:
  1. Working knowledge of computers, peripherals, and software.
  2. Macintosh OSX, Windows and iOS operating systems
  3. Troubleshooting skills and security implementation.
  4. Organization planning, project management, and problem-solving techniques.
Ability to:
  1. Communicate effectively in oral and written form including technical documentation, inventory, and trouble ticket entry.
  2. Establish and maintain cooperative organizational, public, and educational community relationships.
  3. Travel between locations on an as-needed basis


CLASSIFICATION: This position is classified as a full time position and is subject to the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the Board of School Trustees.

REPORTS TO: Director of Technology / Building Principal

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Technology Maintenance: Manage and support Tri-Creek's 1:1 mobile device initiative by maintaining, repairing, cleaning, upgrading, and backing up computer hardware, software, telecommunication systems, and local area networks.
  2. Software Management: Maintain instructional software, provide installation, upgrades, virus protection, and user training for teachers and students.
  3. Inventory Control: Oversee and maintain accurate records of hardware, software, and software licenses across the district.
  4. Troubleshooting and Repairs: Perform basic repairs and resolve technical issues with computers and peripherals, following vendor guidelines.
  5. Software Acquisition Support: Assist the Director of Educational Technology with software purchases and the procurement of computer supplies.
  6. Instructional Support: Assist in delivering technology-assisted instruction and provide training to staff and students on effective use of technology.
  7. Collaboration and Communication: Serve as a key resource for troubleshooting and technical support, maintaining clear communication with staff, administrators, and the Director of Technology.
  8. Preventive Maintenance: Ensure regular cleaning, optimization, and preventive maintenance of IT equipment to extend lifespan and ensure optimal performance.
  9. Technology Deployment: Coordinate the delivery, installation, and inventory of new computer technologies across the district.
  10. User Account Management: Create, modify, and delete user accounts for district operational software as needed.
  11. Help Desk Support: Provide technical assistance and resolve help desk tickets promptly.
  12. Team Leadership: Train and supervise a student-run help desk, providing valuable real-world experience while ensuring end-user support.
  13. Public Relations: Represent the school district in a professional manner that fosters public confidence, aligning with community expectations for behavior, appearance, and communication.
  14. Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology or school administrators.
  15. Commitment to Professional Growth: Demonstrate a strong willingness to stay current with technology advancements and seek opportunities for continuous learning.
  16. Punctuality and Accountability: Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality, ensuring timely completion of duties.

NOTE: The successful candidate will be expected to complete Apple hardware repair certifications within the first year of employment if not already certified. Tri-Creek School Corporation will provide certification training materials and a voucher for a discounted exam cost (if available through Apple at the time of certification).

Physical Demands: The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions.
  1. Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 50 to 75 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  2. This type of work involves ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps to a height of 20 feet, and will involve walking or standing for extended periods.
  3. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, the manual dexterity to operate equipment and use hand tools, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
  4. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced.
