Position Overview:

As the Product Marketing & Promotions Design Lead, you will be responsible for producing and directing design solutions to support product marketing and promotions that drive sales across the customer journey, from awareness to advocacy. In strong partnership with the Marketing team, you will lead a variety of agency partners + freelancers to ensure that our brand's visual communications drive Caribou Coffee's Exceptional and Engaging brand positioning with our guests online and at store through visuals that are compelling and aligned with brand strategy and marketing objectives.

You will collaborate closely with other cross-functional partners to translate business objectives into creative design solutions that resonate with our target audience to scale the brand and achieve annual operating plan sales goals.

Core Responsibilities

Product Marketing and Promotions Art Direction

  • Develop creative briefs by translating insights and data into actionable design elements and omni-channel campaign direction in partnership with the Marketing team.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of all design deliverables, reviewing work to ensure it reflects the brand strategy and meets brand standards and project objectives.
  • Lead and direct print and digital creative executions that support cyclical, always-on product marketing activities including monthly promotions, bi-monthly promotional windows, and paid media, facilitating with external creative partners to produce assets and deliverables.
  • Lead and direct how product is represented to our guests in coffeehouses.
  • Attend and guide direction for product marketing photo + video shoots in partnership with in-house Content Creator + trusted and established creative partners.
Creative Marketing Leadership
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, product, legal, and other cross-functional teams to ensure that design projects meet business objectives and brand requirements.
  • Present thorough and data-informed creative recommendations to stakeholders ensuring business and sales goals are being met.
  • Lead and guide kick off calls, creative reviews, and brainstorming sessions with internal creative team and external creative partners in both in-person and virtual settings.
  • Manage and facilitate relationships with external design agencies, freelancers, and other vendors/partners as needed in partnership with Creative Director.
  • Participate in developing realistic timelines in partnership with Creative Coordinator.
  • Stay informed about design trends, industry best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve our brand design capabilities.
  • Establish, maintain, and help document design standards and processes to produce consistent, high-quality, on-brand results.
Marketing Design Execution
  • Create compelling and visually appealing designs for various marketing materials, including but not limited to, emails, landing pages, social media graphics, digital advertisements, flyers, presentations, and signage that effectively communicate our brand message and resonate with our target audience.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the design and production processes for print, digital, and packaging executions, combining this knowledge with business objectives and budgets to solve creative challenges.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, from concept to completion, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are of high quality.
  • Incorporate feedback from stakeholders to refine designs to ensure they meet project requirements and objectives.
  • Ensure that all design work aligns with our brand strategy and guidelines, creating and maintaining consistent storytelling across all channels.
  • Take on special projects and complete ad hoc and/or sometimes non-strategic design updates as needed.

  • Have strong planning and organizational skills and able to straddle business strategy and creative to deliver compelling solutions to strategic audiences, at the right time, and in the right place(s).
  • Self-starter with ability to manage multiple concurrent efforts over multiple focus areas in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • 7+ years of developing brand campaigns that deliver on business outcomes.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating an excellent understanding of typography, layout, color theory, visual hierarchy, campaign design, and packaging.
  • Previous experience leading internal creative teams and external agencies.
  • Proven work experience as a team leader in a creative in a sometimes-ambiguous environment.
  • Expert level proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
  • Retail and/or restaurant marketing experience.
  • 5+ years of digital experience - web design, loyalty, application campaigns.
  • Experience successfully leading or designing packaging projects.
  • Experience successfully leading video/motion design projects.
