About the Role:

We seek a highly motivated and compassionate Transition Peer Support to join our Orleans Jail Complex (OJC) team. As a Transition Peer Support, you will play a critical role in supporting individuals who are transitioning from incarceration back into the community. You will work closely with our team to provide emotional support, guidance, and resources to help individuals successfully reintegrate into society. Your work will have a significant impact on the lives of those you serve, and you will be an integral part of our efforts to reduce recidivism rates and promote positive outcomes for our clients.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a peer support specialist training program
  • Experience working with individuals who have been incarcerated or experienced trauma
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a correctional or reentry setting
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one support to individuals transitioning from incarceration back into the community
  • Assist clients in accessing community resources, including housing, employment, and healthcare
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to ensure clients have access to necessary resources
  • Facilitate support groups and workshops to promote successful reintegration into society
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions and progress

Skills:

As a Transition Peer Support, you will use your strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients and community partners. You will also use your knowledge of community resources to connect clients with the support they need to reintegrate into society successfully. Additionally, you will use your experience working with individuals who have been incarcerated or experienced trauma to provide emotional support and guidance. Your ability to work independently and as part of a team will ensure that clients receive the best possible care and support.
