General Description

Provide support for school designees, families and the Office of Homebound to ensure homebound instruction provides continuity of educational services between the classroom and home or health care facility, for students whose medical needs, both physical and psychiatric, do not allow school attendance for a limited period of time.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists school based designees with developing school-based procedures for locating homebound teachers and maintaining, organizing, and documenting homebound services.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Office of Homebound and the school.
  • Ensure and maintain communication between families and schools regarding homebound procedures and academic concerns and questions.
  • Assist in scheduling orientations for Homebound Labs.
  • Ensure the delivery of IEP, 504 and ESL accommodations to teachers and/or homebound labs.
  • Support teachers with homebound processes and documentation.
  • Participate in homebound and educational professional development
  • Participate in the administration and proctoring of students approved for homebound/home-based instruction
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Should have a broad background of professional learning, experience, and be able to adjust to a variety of home situations.

Requirements

Must hold a valid Virginia Teaching license.

  • State Police Criminal History Investigation
  • Child Protective Services (CPS) Investigation
  • Tuberculosis Screening/Test
