Linux Systems Administrator

United States Citizenship (no dual citizenship) required. An Active DoE Q level clearance is desired, DoD TS can substitute.

Main Sail is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to support SAP Programs for a National Nuclear Security Administration Client at the Pantex Plant in Amarillo TX. Candidate will be responsible for standing up and administering two high-performance computing clusters at the Pantex Plant. This will include installing and operating systems based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux as well as the necessary networking required to have the corresponding systems be accessible over the enterprise unclassified and classified networks. The operating system will need to be configured to meet various Pantex and DoE/DoD requirements. A variety of national lab-made software packages will need to be installed on the systems and validated.

Knowledge, Skillset, and Abilities (KSAs) - Must be proficient in one or more of the following:
- Red Hat Linux server administration
- Understanding and using essential tools for handling files, directories, and command-line environments
- Operations documentation/runbooks
- Operating running systems, including booting into different run levels, identifying processes, and controlling services
- Configuring local storage using partitions and logical volumes RAID configuration/maintenance
- Creating and configuring file system attributes, such as permissions, encryption, access control lists, and network file systems
- Deploying, configuring, and maintaining systems, including software installation and updating
- Managing users and groups
- Managing security and basic firewall configurations
- Parallel and multiprocessing programming interfaces
- High Performance Computing cluster schedulers and resource managers
- Strong scripting skills in Shell and/or Python

Experience/Education - At least one of the following levels:
- Level 3: Masters degree in a technical field with limited experience, or Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 2 to 5 years of related experience, or Associates degree in a related technical field and 5 to 10 years of related experience. Requires advanced knowledge and understanding in areas of expertise and associated equipment, processes or systems.
- Level 4: PhD in a technical field with limited experience, or Masters degree in a technical field and 2 to 5 years of related experience, or Bachelors degree in a technical field and 5 to 10 years of related experience, or Associates degree in a technical field and 10 to 15 years of related experience. Requires demonstrated in-depth knowledge and skills in a technical specialty.

Location - Pantex Plan, Amarillo TX. Combination of on-site and off-site work.

Period of Performance: One year with possible follow-on options.
