Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: The Neurodiagnostic Technologist works with all members of the health care team to perform neurodiagnostic testing including, but not limited to Electroencephalograms, Evoked Potentials, Interoperative monitoring, Sleep Studies, and MSLTs. Comfortable with training of sleep interns as needed. Position Purpose: The Neurodiagnostic Technologist works with all members of the health care team to perform neurodiagnostic testing including, but not limited to Electroencephalograms, Evoked Potentials, Interoperative monitoring, Sleep Studies, and MSLTs. Comfortable with training of sleep interns as needed. What you will Do: Performs quality EEG tests including but not limited to obtaining patient history, educating patients on EEGs/tests, preparing patient, running test and taking measures required to have quality test based specifically on patient/doctor requirements. Perform quality 24/48hr ambulatory EEG tests; also strip the test information for the doctor to review. Completes dictations by uploading EEG data. Performs polysomnographic data acquisitions while monitoring study quality to ensure signal are in artifact-free. Identity and report signal abnormalities. Follow procedural protocols (such as MSLT, CPAP and oxygen titration, etc.) to ensure collection of appropriate data. Properly cleans electrodes, CPAP mask, patient room, control/prep rooms and other sleep equipment and if necessary, prepares them for sterilization techniques. Including cleaning the patient's scalp properly. Attends scientific courses and seminars on electrodiagnostic and sleep disorders testing, with special emphasis on EEG and Sleep for continuing education. Maintain flow of sleep charts including but not limited to: completing sleep reports and preparing charts for the physician to review, call CPAP patients, set up CPAP with home care companies, fax, update word, fax scripts after signed, update patient charts, keep log book up to date, and complete all necessary processes to finish charts after the physician has reviewed. Orders supplies through weekly. Checks Vista and corrects charges as needed daily. Hours/Schedule: FTE 1; Full Time; Day Shift Minimum Qualifications: Must be registered by the American Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists or Board Registered in a related field approved by the Medical Director. Preferred Graduate of an electroneurodiagnostic technology program accredited by the committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation or equivalent formal training. An Associates Degree is preferred. Preferred requirement of registry in electroneurodiagnostics by American Board Registry Electroneurodiagnostic Technology. Must apply and receive Iowa Licensure required by the Iowa Department of Public Health. Must be current in CEUs. 2 years of PSG experience preferred in a sleep disorders setting. A minimum of 1 year working in neurodiagnostic and sleep disorders. Expertise in all diagnostic areas. Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status. Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years. Completes FPSI Training within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
