We are seeking an Intern to join our La Vergne, TN team this summer The intern will assist our team to strengthen the Process Engineering department while supporting sound business decision making and concrete actions which realize value for our clients and our business.
This is an onsite internship in our La Vergne TN office for Summer 2024 with the possibility of extension.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
- Performs Root Cause Analysis/Countermeasure implementation
- Supports RMA cost reduction efforts
- Support and improve testing efforts on the floor for reducing quality defects
- Analyzes data helping the support of control charts and setting up Quality improvements to reduce quality defects
- Performs defect/problem analysis with support of other process engineers
- Support and foster the Assurant Way and Culture, supporting Common Sense and Common Decency
- Shows commitment to company values, ethics, safety, security, and quality
- Help initiate new testing of devices
- Write work instructions to support Operations with guidance from other process engineers
- May support engineering in Cad layout
- May support engineering in 3D models and 3D printing
- Exposure to a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Improve Critical Thinking Skills
- Strengthen Problem Solving Skills
- Enhance usage of Analytical Tools and Techniques
- Increase hands-on experience in SQL, SQL Server, SaaS, SharePoint, Microsoft Workspaces and more
- Ability to conduct a business presentation and recommend a course of action based on research and supported by data
- Understanding of Data Warehouse principles and best practices
- Ability to draw insights from data set that are actionable for the business
- Enrolled full-time in college (carrying 12 or more undergraduate credits, or 9 or more graduate credits) in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related program.
- Completed the 2nd Semester of college working towards a bachelor's in science.
- Be in good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher).
- Two years of strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint experience, Auto Cad, and Solidworks
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail oriented with excellent follow up skills
- Organized and able to work under constantly changing priorities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Professional demeanor
- Possess a positive outlook, viewing challenges as opportunities
- Ability to quickly learn new applications
- Competently handle ambiguity and the corresponding ability to quickly provide sound decisions and perform tasks with less than complete information
- Strong computer skills; proficient in MS Office Suite
