Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to join our team at Assurant. As an Automation Engineer, you will play a critical role in evaluating, creating, and implementing processes and requirements related to establishing automated solutions within our Operations Teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and improve manual processes through Value Stream Mapping and Front Side Design Needs
  • Execute baseline process studies, including statistical analysis, to compare automated solutions
  • Develop formal scorecards to evaluate the impact of automated processes
  • Support required documentation for equipment and installation
  • Contribute to Lessons Learned and Feedback for Gate Process for continuous improvement
  • Work with buying sites to develop process comparisons and acceptance testing
  • Provide recommendations for headcount, roles, and skillsets required to support automated systems
  • Support training schedules and sign off documentation for site implementation
  • Collaborate with onsite resources for formalized process evaluation and skills training
  • Utilize Minitab or other SPC software to support process studies
  • Develop Excel Automation and Reporting
  • Assist in performance of FMEA
  • Perform data analysis and setup automated data presentation systems
  • Assist in the development of relevant machine error categorization and data requirements
  • Work with the process engineering team to design and perform Machine, Process, and System stress testing
  • Identify areas of opportunity for new automation development or support
  • Identify risk points within processes, machines, or systems and develop risk mitigation strategies
  • Work with sites to develop ROI, Cost/Benefit, and strategic advancement for automated solutions
  • Work with sites to develop performance tracking for automated equipment
Requirements
  • BS in engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of experience with test-driven development and automation implementations
  • 2+ years of experience and exposure to QA/QC processes, standards, and best practices
  • High-touch communication skills and ability to develop best-in-class communications and adoption systems
  • 1+ years of engineering controls experience
  • 2+ years of cost benefit analysis and new program evaluation
  • 1+ years of statistical process control and statistical process control software
  • 2+ years of FMEA
  • 2+ years of machine/process stress testing
  • 1+ years of root cause analysis
  • 2+ years of reliability and reproducibility testing
