Brown & Brown Insurance is seeking a Risk Control Consultant to join our team in Brentwood, TN

***This is a HYBRID Position***

Provides risk control services to key accounts including client reviews of employee safety and employment policies, claim reviews and recommendations, and OSHA guidance.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Review Clients' written Safety Management Programs, Business Continuity Programs, Safety Committee Programs, Employee Handbooks, Light Duty Return-To-Work Programs, Safety Incentive Programs, Fleet Programs, Drug Programs, Ergonomic Programs. Provide critique with recommendations for improvements. Provide samples to clients of any written program where needed.
  • Assist Clients directly with specific questions on OSHA, DOT, ANSI, NCCI, Experience Mods, Claims adjusting, Drug free workplace programs, physicians' panels, work comp laws/rules by state, FEMA, EPA, work management programs, safety equipment, and specific needs such as Industrial Hygiene assistance. Keep current on legislative changes coming that will impact clients and help them prepare for the changes. Constant research and development is required on government and regulatory agencies.
  • Partner with producers on prospect visits to deliver our message of value-added services from Risk Control. Develop specific service plans based on each prospects' individual needs for their business or product produced. Work with carrier loss control personnel and carrier underwriters to direct outside resources to meet these needs.
  • Provide and deliver annually updated Client Employee/Supervisor training programs on Drug Free Workplace, Defensive Driving, Accident Investigation, Ergonomics, OSHA Inspections, Sexual Harassment, Lockout/Tagout, Hazardous Communications, Forklift Operator Training, Personal Protective Equipment, Safety Audits, Safety Incentive Programs, Fall Protection/Fall Prevention. Stay current on all legislative changes regarding each of these programs.
  • Provide in-depth Mock OSHA Inspections to larger clients as needed. Detailed inspection of every piece of equipment, representative vehicles, buildings, recordkeeping, training, and written programs. Digital photographs taken, downloaded into report. Research OSHA regulations that apply to each photograph, research typical OSHA fines for each violation for similar businesses over the past two to three years. Prepare a detailed report to the client and present the report to Client Management Team. Six-month follow-up to assure that violations have been corrected, with follow-up communications to Clients.
  • Prepare and deliver Experience Mod Analysis and Projection reports for some large clients as needed. Manage production and distribution of regular large claims reports for some large clients.
  • Provide oversight/updates/follow-up on large open claims for large clients. Assist clients and adjuster to help manage the claim process as needed.
  • Ad-hoc Member of several Clients' Safety Committees and/or Work Comp Committees.
  • Seminars and Webinars (as needed) - Determine topics, select, and secure guest speakers if needed, develop/deliver presentations, invite clients and prospects to attend, and manage the events.
  • Provide assistance to Sales on RFP's, Prospect Presentations, Leave-Behind Materials.

  • Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Speak persuasively to groups, from hourly employees to top management
  • Maintain security of confidential information
  • Relate and work effectively with our executive management, sales force, account managers and staff support
  • Excellent computer skills/Technology skills/Presentation skills
  • Travel as necessary for the position, up to 20% of time overnight
  • This position requires routine or periodic travel which may require the teammate to drive their own vehicle or a rental vehicle. Acceptable results of a Motor Vehicle Record report at the time of hire and periodically thereafter, and maintenance of minimum acceptable insurance coverages are a requirement of this position
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Minimum:
  • Bachelor's Degree with safety related emphasis plus 1 year of workplace safety experience with carrier/agency or 5 years of workplace safety experience with carrier/agency or equivalent industry experience.
Preferred:
  • Certifications in one of the following: Certified Safety Professional (C.S.P.), Occupational Health & Safety Technician (O.H.S.T), or Construction Health & Safety Technician (C.H.S.T.)
