The Independent Living Supervisor oversees CHS Permanency and Independent Living processes, including Permanency & Independent Living team member supervision, outcome monitoring, quality assurance, program compliance and documentation, and adherence with federal, state, funder and CHS standards. 1. Provides a continuity of care while facilitating permanency solutions that meet the needs of children and their families.
- Supervise the permanency and IL staffing process and make recommendations regarding case direction, reunification of families, adoption, and case closure.
- Make recommendations regarding case direction, family reunification and adoptions, high-risk cases and timely case closure, while monitoring outcomes.
- Oversee compliance with Permanency Staffing directives.
- Direct, supervise and guide permanency and Independent Living specialist functional activities, including:
- Reunification planning
- Diligent searches
- Independent Living transition planning
- Pre-placement and post placement monitoring
- Support and enhance staff’s ability to perform their jobs by teaching and modeling technical knowledge and skills, work management and communication skills and conflict management skills.
- Supervise permanency and IL specialists who serve as specialists/coordinators on child welfare cases.
- Oversee that service delivery is performed according to and within the CHS mission, policy, practices, COA and QA standards, contract and/or licensing requirements, Florida Statutes and Florida Administrative Code.
- Participate in system of care meetings and suggest methods of improving systems and/or developing new systems based on data gathered from case staffing, field-based training and the QI process.
- Identify unmet training needs based on findings and observations from permanency and IL staffing and co-train case managers and supervisors.
- Track and monitor the progress of families and individuals receiving services.
- Recruit, supervise and support team members and foster their professional development, including the transfer of knowledge obtained through training.
- Establish annual team goals and objectives; track and report results.
- Coach, support and evaluate team member performance, taking corrective action if needed.
- Deliver timely communication through regular management and team meetings.
- Comply and confirm compliance with CHS code of conduct, policies, practices and other legal obligations.
- Implement policies and practices designed to prevent, recognize and respond to work-related stress.
- Participate in succession planning to build the bench strength necessary for future talent needs.
- Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on job-related issues and trends.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, training and education, as well as the quality process.
- Pick up projects on the fly; perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
- Demonstrate the CHS Common Bond values in the performance of all job duties.
Education, Licenses & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services-related field.
- Florida Driver’s License within 30 days from hire with daily access to a reliable and insured vehicle, required.
- Certified in Child Welfare through the Florida Certification Board (FCB), required.
- Certification in Child Protection Supervision and program management experience, preferred
- Two years of relevant experience as a Dependency Case Manager
- Four years of relevant experience in Child Welfare
Knowledge of:

***The bonus will be paid in two installments with the first being after successful completion of your 90-day orientation period and the second installment being after your 12 months of service. This sign-on bonus is taxable; all regular payroll taxes will be withheld. In the event that you leave CHS within 12 months of your date of hire, you will be responsible for reimbursing CHS for the sign-on bonus at a pro-rated amount.
