The Role

We are looking for a skilled Culinary Supervisor to become a vital part of our kitchen team. This role involves overseeing kitchen operations in the absence of the head chef. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the head chef and general manager to ensure smooth kitchen operations, which include food procurement, preparation, and upholding quality standards, as well as maintaining sanitation and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Uphold Quality Standards: Mentor junior kitchen staff in areas such as line cooking, food preparation, and presentation.
  • Staff Management: Participate in hiring, evaluating, and, when necessary, terminating kitchen personnel.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all kitchen equipment is clean and in excellent working order through regular inspections and maintenance protocols.
  • Inventory Control: Order products according to established specifications, ensuring accurate delivery counts and conditions.
  • Labor Scheduling: Organize staffing based on anticipated business needs while adhering to labor cost objectives.
  • Training: Instruct kitchen staff on cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  • Temperature Monitoring: Regularly check and document food holding and refrigeration temperatures.
Qualifications

  • Experience: A minimum of two years in culinary roles, ideally within restaurant or senior living settings.
  • Skills: Proficient in reading recipes and menus, effective communication, multitasking, and teamwork.
  • Leadership: Capable of supervising team members and managing emergency situations.
  • Resident Interaction: Enjoy working with residents and be open to constructive feedback while maintaining high personal hygiene standards.
  • Education: Culinary Arts degree from an accredited institution with two years of relevant experience as a Sous Chef or Lead Cook is preferred.
