This is an individual contributor role with a focus around building and scaling a growth business in IBM’s National market in the Southeast USA both directly with customers and with ecosystem partners.
In this role, you will be responsible for generating sales revenue by identifying, developing, and maintaining new and existing customer relationships. You will also provide technical support to customers and work closely with our sales and marketing teams to develop and implement sales strategies.
You should be a self-starter who is prepared to develop and execute against an account plan, deliver proof of value and custom demonstrations of software, and consistently deliver on quarterly revenue targets. You must be a strong and creative thinker who thrives in a multi-team environment and adopts all aspects of selling. You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and embrace change.

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Partner Technical Specialist - Territory, your mission is to work with Ecosystem Partners to identify opportunities, and progress technical sales, resulting in client success and IBM Technology business growth in your territory. Additionally, you will identify opportunities to expand Ecosystem partner skills coverage for your specialty in order to scale success in your territory. Your understanding of the Ecosystem enables you to identify and involve the right Ecosystem Partners with the right skills for client and territory success. You will leverage your technical insights to work alongside our Ecosystem Partners to remove technical inhibitors and co-deliver demos with Partners, support partner PoX, advise partners on Solution Assurance, and progress opportunities to closure. You will engage with Partners and Clients with an opinionated point of view as an IBM technologist, practitioner and brand specialty solution expert. PTS-T is part of the overall Ecosystem team with overall responsibility to assist in the building of partner capability and capacity for sustained IBM growth.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Extensive experience on technical software sales, software implementation, or technical practitioner experience in business automation, application integration and administration, Aiops or Devops.
  • Experience driving new logo sales with ecosystem partners.
  • Experience with IBM Technology solutions, IBM Hybrid Cloud strategy and a deep level of technical skills in the assigned brand specialty products.
  • Experiential selling including co-creation and hands-on technical sales methods such as: demos, custom demos, Proofs of concept, Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) or other technical proofs.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and an ability to collaborate effectively with Ecosystem Partners, clients and sales professionals.
  • Experience of successfully engaging with Ecosystem Partners and clients to identify, progress and win IBM Technology sales opportunities.
  • Experience of working in cross-functional teams, with Ecosystem Partners and a matrix management organization.
  • Build deep understanding and expertise of Ecosystem programs, Technology Sales roles, enablement offerings, tools and teams.
  • Demonstrate Entrepreneurial Territory Leadership.
  • Build deep brand expertise to assist partners to deliver PoX (Custom Demo, PoC, MVP, etc.) to progress opportunities.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Relationships with companies and partners in the US Southeast regions.
  • Entrepreneurial or startup experience with proven contributions to growth.
  • Technical experience with software competitors of IBM.
  • Prior experience with IBM specific software in Data Integration technologies such as Gateway and Messaging, DataPower Gateway, IBM Message Queue (MQ), IBM Event Streams (Kafka), API & APP Integration, API Connect, APP Connect, Aspera, Aspera High Speed File Transfer, Aspera on Demand.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
