Description
The Director of Information Systems and Technology will:
- Manage a team that includes but is not limited to Informational Technology, Data Network, Clinical Applications, Telephones, and other IT/IS staff.
- Plan and direct all aspects of design, implementation, and maintenance of clinical information systems to effectively apply technology solutions to improve clinical IT area.
- Be responsible for translating the mission, strategic goals, daily operations, and program priorities of the organization into department operations.
- Plan, prioritize, summarize, direct, and supervise staff, users and vendors and system development and support functions with an emphasis on complete, accurate and secure systems.
- Manage the analysis, selection, design, implementation, and maintenance of information systems to effectively apply technology solutions to improve operations.
- Lead the organization through the optimization of the Electronic Medical Record.
- Continuously evaluate IT resources and structure and provide leadership focused on service, accountability, and delivery with a concentration on clinical decision-making and process integration.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred)
- Five years of progressively responsible IT operations and service leadership related experience in a healthcare organization.
- Ten years of progressively responsible IT operations and service leadership related experience in a healthcare organization (preferred).
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Experience with Financial Analytical Applications.
- Project Management Certification (preferred)
- Demonstrates the competency, knowledge, skills, and abilities in daily operations, management and leadership required for success in overseeing the business of Information Technology and Information Systems including Clinical Applications. Models' leadership behavior that is expected of senior leaders at Springfield Hospital and holds others accountable to those standards.
- Individuals must possess an extraordinary positive attitude, exceptional listening skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent communication abilities to articulate vision and translate complex issues into comprehensible ideas and concepts.
- Strong interpersonal skills to lead and motivate the team.
- Strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff, physicians, patients, and patient's families.
- Exhibits a presence that engenders confidence, enthusiasm, and support in others and a strong passion for quality patient care.
- Action oriented and results driven.
- Solid knowledge of healthcare IT strategic planning, technological trends, and systems.
- Experience implementing EHR and attesting for Meaningful Use in the hospital and provider-based settings.
- Demonstrated ability to ensure Project Management principles are utilized in IT projects.
