General DescriptionACNC’s Marketing and Events Coordinator’s primary responsibilities include overseeing all marketing initiatives, planning and facilitation of annual fundraising events both online and in-person, and facilitation and attendance at community outreach events. ACNC events are designed to fulfill the organization’s mission while also raising necessary funds that support ACNC’s buildings, grounds, and staff. Events take place throughout the year, and often times require working weekend hours. Ongoing marketing efforts include: ACNC’s bi-monthly newsletter, regular email updates to the ACNC Membership, paid advertising, internal/external posters, flyers, and online social media. This person reports to the Executive Director, and works closely with ACNC’s Designer, Volunteer Coordinator/Admin Assistant, and other staff event leads. This person also serves as the staff liaison to ACNC’s fundraising committee.This position qualifies to participate in ACNC’s retirement plan after one year of employment.Scope and Responsibilities Event Coordination (50%) •Plans and oversees annual in-person fundraising events with assistance from the Fundraising Committee and ACNC staff.•Schedules food trucks/catering•Prepares and shares a detailed list of staff and volunteer needs prior to each event.Marketing and Outreach (40%)•Works with the Administrative Assistant/Volunteer Coordinator to facilitate the schedule and coordinate content for the ACNC bi-monthly printed newsletter.•Works with the Administrative Assistant/Volunteer Coordinator to facilitate the schedule and content for monthly e-news updates•Facilitates the schedule and coordinates content for ACNC social media accounts•Creates and posts onsite event-related signage for outdoor kiosk, reception desk, and within the Nature Center •Creates and distributes off-site related signage for events as requested•Oversees the content and makes regular updates to ACNC website to reflect current offerings and information.•Oversees ACNC’s photo database for marketing purposes.•Works with ACNC’s PR volunteer to edit and ensure the timely delivery of press releases to the outside media.•Coordinates and drafts some of the weekly newspaper articles to send to local news outlets•Schedules and coordinates participation in community outreach.•Curates outreach materials and coordinates their delivery to events. Administrative/Other (10%)•Performs the role of staff liaison to the Fundraising Committee: composes and distributes agendas and meeting notes, and attends all meetings •Assists the Executive Director with securing business sponsors for annual events•Participates in ACNC’s ‘Culture of Philanthropy’ by performing tasks designated to staff •Performs additional tasks as requested by the Executive DirectorMinimum Qualifications•Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience•Previous experience and comfort working with various marketing tools•Previous experience with event planning and coordination•Familiarity with social media outlets such as Facebook and Instagram•Excellent verbal and written communication skills•Ability to manage simultaneous priorities and meet deadlines•Excellent time management skills•Friendly, outgoing, and welcoming personality•Proficient with Microsoft word processing, excel spreadsheets, database management, and desktop publishing•Self-directed, but also able to take direction from other team leaders•Demonstrated ability to think creatively and act strategically•Flexible and open minded•Organized and inspiring team leader•Passion for contributing to a creative and professional work environment•Committed to ACNC’s mission of connecting people to naturePreferred Qualifications•Previous experience working in a non-profit, nature center, or similar setting•Previous experience working with and or supervising volunteers Minimum Salary: 18 Maximum Salary: 23.35 Salary Unit: Hourly
