Hennepin Healthcare, Minnesota’s first Level 1 Trauma Center, seeks a full-time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Otolaryngology (ENT) team of three General Otolaryngologists, 1 Head and Neck Surgeon, two Facial Plastic Surgeons, and three Physician Assistants to provide care to patients of all ages in our downtown Minneapolis Otolaryngology Clinic, as well as in-patient rounding/consults at Hennepin County Medical Center. The focus of this position will be inpatient care/consults but 3-4 days per week a couple hours of outpatient care in clinic will be expected, namely inpatient consult follow-ups (continuity of care) or urgent add-ons. The successful applicant will work closely with our team of 2-3 otolaryngology residents as well. Our clinic, opened in 2018, is state-of-the art with flat screens, scope towers, microscopes in every exam room. This academic Otolaryngology practice involves caring for a large and very diverse patient population. There are opportunities to train APP students as well. Clinical care includes all aspects of otolaryngology with opportunity to develop your own niche. Call and weekends are not expected. Hours will be 7am to 4pm.  Full-time is considered 36 hours of direct patient care per week. On the clinic days, the schedule would be 7am-1pm for inpatient care and 1pm to 4pm for clinic. Benefits, PTO, and CME are excellent and very competitive. New graduates or APPs without ENT experience will be considered, but ENT experience is preferred.  A six-month training period will be provided for those with no experience with graded responsibilities during that time. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct acute and chronic care to adult and pediatric patients as part of the interdisciplinary team in the ambulatory departments and inpatient departments
  • Perform initial and on-going assessment of patient's medical, physical, and psychosocial status
  • Obtain and evaluate health and medical history, perform a physical exam related to the head and neck, conduct preventative screening procedures based on age and history, and identify medical and health risks
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation of observations, interventions, plan of care, referrals, and follow-up
  • Formulate appropriate differential diagnosis based on history and physical examination
  • Identify needs of the individual, family, or community and develop a plan of care/or education plan
  • Order, conduct, and interpret diagnostic tests, and therapeutic treatments. Prescribe, administer, and dispense therapy devices and legend drugs
  • Make appropriate referrals to other healthcare professionals and community agencies
  • Reassess and modify the plan as necessary to achieve medical and health goals
  • Support new and existing programs which expand the organization’s role in the community
  • Develop a patient education plan relevant to the condition and patient/family needs
  • Participate in performance improvement activities
  • Adhere to productivity standards established by the organization
  • Perform other related duties but only after appropriate training
  • Perform in-patient rounding with the otolaryngology team
  • Obtain medical history, perform examination, diagnose and treat in-patients for which the otolaryngology service has been consulted as needed
  • Order and interpret tests, imaging on in-patients as needed
  • Perform discharges of inpatients admitted to the otolaryngology service
