Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Emergency Medicine Department. This role is full-time, focusing on night shifts at the triage area of our Emergency Department.
Work Schedule
The position involves working nights from 11 pm to 7 am, covering triage duties throughout the week.
Compensation Structure
The compensation includes a base salary along with a 25% stipend for those working a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE). The pay scale is determined by the number of years since licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP).
Years Since Licensure
- 3-4 Years: $163,150
- 5-6 Years: $171,730
- 7-9 Years: $175,162
- 10+ Years: $180,310
*The stipend is specifically for those committed to permanent night shifts in the Emergency Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct medical screening exams (MSE) on patients and manage those with less critical conditions who can be discharged from triage.
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and document patient histories.
- Order and manage laboratory and radiological studies as necessary.
- Execute therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as directed by supervising physicians, including but not limited to:
- Wound care and dressing changes
- Venipuncture and intravenous line initiation
- Bladder catheterization
- Suturing of lacerations
- Pelvic examinations and associated testing
- Incision and drainage of abscesses
- Immobilization of fractures and musculoskeletal issues through splinting and casting
Professional Development
We provide an Advanced Practice Professional Center aimed at the ongoing development and support of our APPs, representing over 300 professionals within our organization. The APP Center offers:

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current or eligibility for licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant in Minnesota.
- Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification is mandatory for Nurse Practitioner candidates.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in an emergency department as an advanced practice provider.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in Emergency Medicine, with a minimum of 3 years as an Advanced Practice Provider.
- Familiarity with electronic medical documentation systems and software.
