In this role, you will investigate the theory and practice of novel artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies and techniques. You will translate your discoveries into novel capabilities for the MeTRA® knowledge management platform, for internal solutions engineers, and for customers in the Department of Defense. You will work with other Tenet3 team members to research, prototype, demonstrate, advocate, and deploy the advanced capabilities that differentiate Tenet3 from our peers.

You will work closely with Tenet3 team members across our solutions teams, product teams, and executive management to define and refine concepts that will be translated into capabilities. The technology you create will find applications in the modeling and evaluation of complex microelectronic, software, hardware, and logical systems. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will explain our advanced technology at an appropriate level of abstraction to Tenet3 customers and make them excited about our capabilities.

The Advanced Capabilities Team is staffed by a group of collaborative machine learning, data, and research scientists and engineers. We bond over discussions about the ergonomics of the language features of Python 3.12, the top articles of the day on Hackernews, oddities in open-source implementations of machine learning papers, arXiv publications from our favorite academic research groups, and blog posts describing new CVEs.

Responsibilities

  • Research and implement advanced data analytics and machine learning capabilities using modern machine learning algorithms, techniques, and frameworks. Write and publish code implementing data science, statistical and machine learning algorithms.
  • Develop solution prototypes, technical demonstrations, and new capability to customers with small teams of R&D staff members.
  • Apply excellent project and time management skills to maintain a portfolio of solutions under development through issue planning and tracking, road mapping, testing, and progress assessment. Coordinate with engineers across the organization to team and translate prototypes into practical tools.
  • Write internal and external communications for projects targeting relevant stakeholders.
  • Utilize strong communication and interpersonal skills to interface with leadership, customer, and project managers to craft proposals, understand project requirements, and evaluate customer needs.
  • Travel (10%) to customer meetings as an engaging and personable advocate for Tenet3.
Some Example Job Duties
  • Write PyTorch to fine tune pre-trained (CNN/Transformer/GNN) models pulled from Huggingface.
  • Manage and execute principled hyperparameter search experiments.
  • Collaborate with solutions engineers and propose novel solutions to hard data problems.
  • Apply software engineering principles to write reusable, portable, extendable code.
  • Package, deliver, and support advanced capabilities used by engineers across the company.
  • Intuit, given training logs, the presence of defects in a training data set.
  • Configure a remote virtual machine to execute model training on cloud infrastructure.
  • Determine if GitHub published code implements a research paper correctly.
  • Build presentations, and present your work, to external audiences in a relatable fashion.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Dept of Defense Top Secret Security clearance.
  • SCI eligibility.
  • BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years' experience as a practicing ML, data, AI, or computer scientist or engineer.
  • Proficiency with contemporary data science and machine learning tools in Python.
  • Excellent writing, public speaking, and verbal communication skills.
  • Team-player attitude, willing to accept from and offer direction to others.
