ROLE SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Generalist supports the Human Resources department through various activities, focused on talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits administration, and compliance. This role requires a proactive approach to daily operations ensuring the organization operates smoothly and efficiently. The HR Generalist plays a crucial part in fostering a positive work environment and supporting the organization’s overall HR functions.


A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST CAN LOOK LIKE:

Talent Acquisition and Employee Engagement:

  • Managing full-cycle recruitment, including interviewing and recommending candidates.
  • Developing and implementing recruitment strategies across the organization.
  • Overseeing the applicant tracking system (ATS) and training hiring managers on usuage.
  • Ensuring cost-effective usage of recruitment venues and media.
  • Coordinating onboarding processes, ensuring proper documentation (I-9, W-4, etc.).
  • Conducting and evaluating background checks in compliance with government requirements.
  • Leading New Staff Orientation sessions.
  • Participating in Staff Engagement Committee meetings.
  • Reporting recruitment metrics and updating organizational charts.

Benefits Administration:

  • Corresponding with brokers, benefit advisors, and carriers to resolve issues.
  • Addressing employee benefit plan queries and escalating to the broker as needed.
  • Processing benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Communicating company benefits to new hires and guardians as neccessary.
  • Reconciling benefit invoices with the Finance department.
  • Managing fringe benefits and assisting with open enrollment annually.
  • Handling ACA administration, including monthly reports and annual 1095s.
  • Assisting with EEO-1 annual reporting.

Safety & Training:

  • Reporting internal injuries and workers' compensation claims overseeing the claim from start to finish.
  • Conducting accident investigations with operational managers.
  • Completing annual OSHA reporting.
  • Participating in Safety Committee Meetings.
  • Assist with assigning trainings in QT9.

HR Operations:

  • Performing routine administrative tasks, including maintaining employee files within HRIS.
  • Processing unemployment claims, garnishments, and child support orders.
  • Verifying employment as requested.
  • Suggesting process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Collaborating with Marketing to manage internal communications.
  • Assisting with various HR projects and serving as backup to the Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer.


EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field preferred; HRCI or SHRM certification is a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years of full cycle recruitment and benefits administration experience.
  • Proficiency in ATS and HRIS systems (experience with ADP Workforce Now is a plus).
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision and solve problems effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
