About the Department:

The City of Tukwila's Parks and Recreation Department is home to 159 acres of parks, 12 miles of trails, Foster Golf Links, and the Tukwila Community Center. The department develops and maintains parks and facilities, and offers a wide range of recreational events, programs, and services for all ages.

The Tukwila Recreation Department is currently hiring for a Recreation Program Site Supervisor. The Seasonal Recreation Program Site Supervisor position assists and supports our Youth and/or Teen Recreation Programs. Typical schedule is 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm Monday-Friday for youth and teen after school programs with occasional evenings as needed. (Position will not exceed 1040 hours in a 12-month period).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safeguards program staff and participants and provides for a clean and safe working environment.
  • Completes and maintains proper forms, reports and information for recreation staff.
  • Enforces and assists staff in enforcing facility, equipment, and program rules and regulations, taking appropriate corrective action when necessary.
  • Assist staff with planning, scheduling, and organizing of various programs, events and activities.
  • Other duties may vary based on specific responsibilities for each position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

(A) Ability to work with minimum or no supervision;
(B) Working knowledge of hazards and safety practices;
(C) Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing;
(D) Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with program staff, participants, volunteers, parents, and the general public;
(E) Physical ability sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position.
(F) Experience with working with different systems i.e. scheduling programs, registration software, Microsoft Office.
Education, Experience and Other Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

(A) Possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D.;

(B) Minimum of 18 years old;

(C) College-level coursework in Recreation, Education, or related field (preferred);

(D) Minimum of two-years experience in a similar work environment of which at least 6-months was in a supervisory role.

Special Requirements:

Must possess a valid Driver's License/ID. Must be physically capable of assisting and participating in physical activities. Maintain current CPR/First Aid certifications, or the ability to obtain prior to employment.
