We are seeking a strong Engineer with leadership capability to lead the Plumbing & Fire Protection Department in our office located in Arlington, VA and support the function enterprise-wide.

Primary responsibilities will include:

* Serve as an engineering leader and technical expert with the ability to answer questions and resolve issues brought forth by the engineering staff.

* Create detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff to use and abide by.

* Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering projects.

* Check and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by engineering staff.

* Communicate and collaborate with other managers, suppliers, and contractors.

* Prepare and deliver various engineering-related presentations, both internally and externally

* Perform department management activities including recruitment, hiring, coaching, and leadership

The basic requirements for this position include:

* 10 plus years' experience in plumbing /fire protection design

* Team supervisory experience

* Bachelor's degree I mechanical engineering required; PE license preferred

* Strong technical writer

* Strong knowledge of building codes

* Strong interpersonal skills

* Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment with the ability to work individually or as part of a team.

* Knowledge of Sustainable certification programs

* Strong software skills including Revit
