The Lead Packaging Technician is responsible for performing a variety of important and supportive tasks in Brewery Bhavana's production brewery as a member of a collaborative team. Responsibilities include canning, bottling, kegging, cellar work, and general housekeeping operations.

This position will report directly to the Brewery Production Manager, ensuring the adherence to standard operating procedures while maintaining consistency, quality, and efficiency. A solid understanding of all aspects of beer production, canning procedures, safety, packaging, quality assurance and quality control is required. An aptitude for canning line operations is highly desired.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Adherence to and advances of all safety protocols
  • Lead packaging operations, including can, keg, and bottle filling according to the projected package
  • Palletizing, wrapping, and warehousing of all finished goods
  • Cleaning and performing preventative maintenance on facilities and equipment as assigned
  • Assisting in and performing essential warehousing functions
  • Supporting fellow brewery staff in their respective responsibilities as assigned
  • Performing tank and barrel transfers
  • Carbonating beer prior to packaging
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining cellar and packaging equipment
  • Cleaning kegs
  • Assisting in other cellar tasks when required, including:
    • Maintaining and monitoring all fermentation
    • Checking and recording gravities and temperatures
    • Yeast management, cropping, pitching and storage
    • Dry hopping and other additions
  • Having the ability to work cohesively in a team environment
  • Willingness to adjust to an ever-evolving production schedule
  • Understanding of industry best practices
  • Forklift operations
  • Understanding the importance of the separation of sour/mixed culture and clean fermentation and equipment maintaining a clean and organized workspace
  • Assisting in the maintenance and upkeep foeders and barrels
  • Possessing a high degree of mechanical skills, strong mechanical aptitude
  • Able to lift up to 55lbs and move full kegs as needed
  • Requirements - minimum of 2 years of cellar and packaging experience, prefer 4 years
Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Formal and documented education in brewing or packaging science, or a degree in Science, Maintenance, Engineering, or a similar field
  • Prior experience operating a forklift.
  • Enthusiasm for craft beer and a commitment to understanding and supporting beer quality
