RESPOND, Inc. is seeking full time Family Worker. Working in various child development centers as part of a team, this position works with families to help with various as aspects, including providing community resources, conducting childfind activities, and assisting families with their children's transitions into other programs. This position is 40 hours per week, and may require evenings and weekends.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Assists families in setting goals for themselves and their child(ren).
  • Collaborates with the Center Director (and Community Parent Involvement Specialist (CPIS), if needed) to complete a family strengths assessment/survey with individual families.
  • Knowledgeable about community resources. Refer and connect families with organizations and services offered outside of the preschool program (e.g. health care/insurance, employment training and social services). Follow-up on all referrals.
  • Serves as a liaison between families and the childcare center to enhance the relationship between the teachers and the families but not to supersede it (in the area of the child’s education, the teacher is the primary contact).
  • Serves as a resource to the Preschool Intervention and Referral Team (PIRT) along with the classroom teacher to help provide background information on families as needed.
  • Collaborates and communicates regularly with school district staff, (CPIS), Social Worker(s), Teachers, and Administrators/Directors to promote family education workshops/group meetings and community activities (e.g. enrollment and recruitment). *Family education workshops/group meetings should complement the strengths and focus on the needs and interests of all families.
  • Assists families with the transition process as needed (e.g., early intervention to preschool and preschool to kindergarten etc.).
  • Maintain a current and updated file for each family enrolled in the preschool program and document all contacts and efforts made with families (Confidentiality must be maintained at all times). Submits reports and data as requested by the district (e.g. monthly enrollment reports, home visits/family meetings and family surveys).
  • Attends professional development trainings offered by the district, childcare provider and/or its designees. Training topics should include but not limited to the following: Child development, Strengthening Families-Five Protective Factors, curriculum overview, professional etiquette, and understanding social and emotional competence of children, making social connections.
  • Complete at least 3 annual home/personal/center visits with each family (*All efforts should be documented).
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher education required
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)
  • Microsoft Office Suite 3 years ( Preferred )
Compensation:
  • $17.00 to $19.00 an hour commensurate with education and experience

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout the classroom, and going to different centers.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to sit and stand throughout the day, and bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children when required.
