Development Specialist, OperationsAbout One Million Degrees:One Million Degrees accelerates community college students' progress on career pathways to economic mobility.Over 60% of students who start community college do not complete a degree or successfully transfer to a four-year institution. However, 84% of jobs in the US require skills training beyond high school. OMD's holistic support model is designed to support community college students as they work toward degrees and careers. From tutors and coaches to financial assistance and professional development, OMD helps community college students succeed in school, work, and life, transforming their futures and the futures of those around them for generations. The OMD student support model is rooted in evaluation and evidence: A randomized controlled trial conducted with the University of Chicago Inclusive Economy Lab shows that OMD scholars are 70% more likely to enroll, 94% more likely to persist, 73% more likely to earn a degree. Currently, OMD serves scholars in all 7 of the City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) and is scaling to reach over 3000 community college scholars by 2026 through our unique partnership with CCC. In addition to direct services, OMD partners with employers across industries to build on-ramps to in-demand jobs through internships and apprenticeships, and supports institutions nationwide to design and implement models of holistic student support.Through this growing body of work, OMD continues to have a profound impact in Chicagoland while becoming a national model for sustainable, scalable, and systemic change. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, strategic, and equity-minded team member, capable of managing and enhancing our events and stewardship programs. Exceptional organizational skills, a passion for educational equity, and a proven track record in event planning and donor relations are essential. As OMD grows to be a national model for scaling holistic student supports, the Development Specialist, Events & Stewardship will play a critical role in advancing OMD's mission by creating meaningful experiences for prospective and existing supporters and ensuring the highest level of donor care.Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Data Management Manage information tracking processes regarding acknowledgement, recognition, on-going communications, and continued cultivation of past and current donors to enhance their relationship with OMD Process Acknowledgements, electronic + mailed Coordinate and send weekly a-team actions for CEO meetings, items for review, etc. Support pipeline management and deadline tracking through the generation of weekly reports Salesforce Reports Super User - builds out reports for Advancement team, as needed.Coordination with FinanceServe as conduit between Finance/Ops/A-team team and Program to ensure Program team has access to key financial info (remaining e-grants spend down, etc.) Collaborates with Finance to ensure proper recording of pledges, gifts, and payments. Complete monthly audit/reconcile Salesforce to Sage to Bank AccountOpen mail, deposit checks, log in appropriate finance systems for next year's pipelineAdvancement OperationsA team traffic control Support with meeting prepsPrimary point of contact for external payment processing systems (e.g. Classy)Manages development collateral inventoryQualifications and Requirements: Minimum of two years of experience in database managementStrong expertise in project management and systems orientationEducation Associate degree requiredExperience Demonstrated ability to streamline processes for efficiency and effectiveness.Proven track record in project management and development within operational sectors.Experience with operations functions related to gift processing, data entry and reportingSkills Strong and creative problem-solving, critical thinking, and strategic planning skills, including the ability to disaggregate problems and structure complex issues Strong collaboration and influence skills, demonstrating an ability to navigate organizational relationships, incorporate differing perspectives, develop recommendations, and generate consensus with partners across teams Excellent people and project management skills, including detail and action-orientation with excellent follow-through skills; Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required; i.e., the ability to communicate effectively verbally and through written correspondence as well as in communicating with individuals in one-on-one situations is critical Displays comfort with ambiguity and enjoys creating structure Ability to take initiative, manage priorities, and work independently Experience and demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity initiatives.
