Provides specialized retention outreach and support services to students and serves as an Academic First Responder to at-risk students. Communicates with students digitally and in-person to provide holistic student support including academic development plans, resource referrals, and academic and career goal setting . Major/Essential Functions

Provide high-touch, holistic retention outreach and support to a cohort of undergraduate students, with a focus on supporting Hispanic, low-income, and first generation students. Coordinate with the Office of Student Success in the College of Arts & Sciences to proactively identify and assist students in underrepresented or underserved populations. Utilize technology such as alerts, probationary statuses, account holds, low mid-term grades, and other markers to identify student retention concerns and facilitate successful interventions Coordinate communication with faculty and staff regarding alerts and connect students with appropriate resources to increase their likelihood of personal and academic success Maintain accurate records of outreach and student meetings, such as project data and other key data for departmental reporting Work with other campus departments to build relationships to provide student support on a continuous basis Other administrative responsibilities intended to accomplish individual and departmental goals may include serving students during drop-in hours or overseeing a small team of student mentors

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required, plus two years relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

The nature of this position requires a professional with knowledge of and/or experience with student development programs on a college campus. A master's degree in counseling, higher education, or other related field is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate for this position would display an ability to: * Build rapport with students while providing academic, social, and personal support * Understand the complex issues facing students, particularly Hispanic, low-income, first-generation, and/or minoritized students * Be willing to have difficult conversations with students with tact and sound judgment to help them address their personal and academic barriers to success * Support a climate that promotes innovation and improved service to students and the community and cooperates with campus partners to develop partnerships that support student success * Proactively engage in learning about barriers to student success, as well as the resources available to help students overcome them * Work in a highly collaborative environment that requires a high level of communication and coordination A minimum of 5 years professional experience with academic advising, retention, or student success is strongly preferred.
