Grand Canyon Education's Office of Student Operations is currently seeking a Financial Funding Coordinator. The Financial Funding Coordinator reconciles institutional aid to ensure accurate coordination with the University's institutional award program. Coordinates and oversees the administration of academic and programmatic scholarships by ensuring maintenance of accurate information on eligibility determination and selection and disbursement of financial assistance. Serves as a liaison between student life, athletics, and ground operations for the financial funding related purposes associated with ground.

New hire training will be held in-person at our Phoenix, AZ campus.

Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions:
  • Collect and record data on those students accepted to the University, maintaining accurate information for scholarship eligibility, recipient and/or award information; ensures those not eligible are accurately identified.
  • Monitor database for student scholarship status updates. Track student awards from a variety of sources in an accurate and timely manner to ensure overpayment, excess awards are minimized. Reconcile awarding transactions by comparing and collecting data. Prepare and sends students' scholarship award and work study acceptance letters.
  • Audit students' eligibility criteria to determine amount of award if any as per University guidelines and inputs data.
  • Respond to questions, issues and concerns regarding individual students' scholarships and awards and status from authorized personnel, ensuring student confidentiality is maintained.
  • Ensure timely resolution of incoming SRS requests.
  • Prepare and maintain the institutional aid handbook on a regular basis so that all internal parties are kept aware of scholarship policies. Draft and maintain all scholarship memorandum of understandings (MOU's).
  • Monitor student over-awards, academic progress, GPA and/or other financial aid policies to ensure student eligibility.
  • Prepare utilization reports, scholarship metrics, etc. on a regular and/or weekly basis. Analyze report findings and reports any relevant trends to upper management.
  • Reconcile cash deposits and works directly with accounting on deposits.
  • Approve Athletic Department's, Spiritual Life and College of Fine Arts Performing Arts students' scholarship award amounts.
  • Ensure NCAA compliance standards are met for posting and reduction of all athletic aid.
  • Monitor additional institutional aid and outside scholarships with regards to student athletes that may count against the NCAA allowable scholarship limitation to prevent NCAA violation.
  • Generate all financial aid/NLI requests for prospective student athletes.
  • Responsible for processing reductions/cancellations of aid and notifying the student athlete of their right to a hearing to appeal the violations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • MS Excel in order to design, create formulas, pivot tables, mail merge and lookups.
  • MS Office Suite applications.
  • xRM, resident life software, scholarship/awards software and similar.
  • NCAA compliance standards
Experience/ Education
  • High School completion required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in an administrative, business, accounting or bookkeeping capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience in higher education in a similar capacity is highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience with MS Office, specifically Excel spreadsheet design, formulas, reporting required.
  • Must pass pre-employment background investigation.
