Salary Range - $115k-$125k annuallyThe Director of Institutional Giving and Strategic Initiatives (Director) is responsible for leading, planning, managing, and executing the JCCSF's annual corporate, foundation, and government funding pipeline, which totals $3.6 million for FY25. This role involves developing strategies, objectives, timelines, and action plans for fundable program opportunities, as well as prospecting, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding foundation giving to the JCCSF. The Director will engage with the Board of Directors, Executive Team, and program staff at all levels to develop and execute impact evaluations and build strategic relationships with institutional staff and stakeholders. The primary responsibilities include full grants lifecycle management, including prospect research, grant writing/reporting, budgeting, and data management for a growing portfolio of over 30 active grants, including local, state, and federal government grants.RESPONSIBILITIESFundraising: Develop and implement an annual institutional fundraising strategy and calendar in consultation with the Chief Development Officer to achieve ambitious revenue goals.Maintain and expand the institutional giving pipeline, managing 80-100 deliverables annually.Grants Management: Project manage all aspects of grants administration with support from the Development Operations and Finance team, providing direction and feedback to staff as needed.Write compelling, informative, and substantive grant proposals, renewal requests, reports, letters of inquiry (LOI), budgets, and budget narratives.Organize, maintain, and share grant proposals, reports, renewals, and other grant activity information using Salesforce.Maintain an accurate organizational calendar of all institutional funding deliverables and opportunities.Keep program staff and other internal and external stakeholders informed of grant proposals, activities, deliverables, and reporting deadlines, ensuring compliance with grant awards and agreements.Create correspondence related to institutional giving.Budget Planning / ReportingDevelop and review complex budget documents in close partnership with the Director of Finance and their team.Manage invoicing for reimbursement-based government grants.Strategic Planning: Use extensive experience, sound judgment, and input from program staff and Development leadership to cultivate and steward institutional donors and make a wide range of independent and collaborative decisions.Serve as the primary liaison with senior program staff to develop and match program ideas and projects with appropriate funding opportunities.In consultation with senior program staff and Development department colleagues, establish and regularly update organizational funding priorities.Coordinate and organize funder meetings to further and deepen relationships with the grantmaking community.Coordinate and strategize managing major donors who give through private family foundations with the CDO and CEO.Impact Evaluation: Lead the development, implementation, and synthesis of organization-wide and program-specific impact evaluations.Develop a deep understanding of JCCSF programs and services by working collaboratively with program staff to acquire both quantitative and qualitative information about our programs.Collaborate with Marketing Directors on the annual Impact Report document.Report annual status and assessment of Endowment funding.Perform other duties as required or assigned.Sector Knowledge and Prospecting: Demonstrate a deep understanding of the nonprofit sector and trends in institutional giving.Maintain awareness of relevant funding opportunities and emerging trends in philanthropy.Proactively identify and pursue new grant opportunities that align with JCCSF's mission and goals.Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the philanthropic community to enhance the organization's visibility and funding prospects.Support the Development Department: Assist in the planning and execution of Development department activities and events as needed.Solicit underwriting sponsorships for key events to secure necessary funding and enhance event success.Supervision: Supervise the Grant Writer, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure their success.Set performance expectations, conduct regular check-ins, and provide constructive feedback to the Grant Writer.REQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree and seven or more years of progressively responsible nonprofit development experience.Knowledge of the Bay Area philanthropic community, and private and corporate foundations.Strong professional writing, editing, and oral communication skills, with the ability to work closely with program staff to develop technically accurate, compelling, and creative content.A willingness to exchange ideas and be flexible in approaches to achieving organizational and fundraising goals and priorities.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with strong attention to detail.Ability to be flexible and adjust midstream if necessary.Demonstrated experience with grant seeking, grant writing, and relationship development with institutional donors.High proficiency with MS Office Suite and familiarity with Salesforce CRM.Must be well-organized, self-motivated, and detail oriented.Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the JCCSF.Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively.Strong attention
