Overview of the role Mainsail Lodging and Development is currently seeking an experienced accounting professional to join our team as Vice President of Accounting. This position is based out of our office in Tampa, FL and works with the Chief Financial Officer on all company accounting matters. In this role, you will be our in-house accounting expert, reviewing our accounting and educating us on corrections when necessary. This would be the perfect opportunity for a public accountant with hospitality experience to advance their career with a fun, growing lodging company Along with providing guidance to the property accounting team, the Vice President of Accounting will oversee all partnership accounting, including timely and accurate reporting. They will engage with our external accounting firm to manage the company’s annual audits/reviews and lead the tax process, ensuring the timely issuance of K1’s to our owners and partners. What you have Active CPA certification (mandatory) 10 years of public accounting experience (hospitality related preferred, not required) Strong understanding of GAAP and other accounting standards Excellent communication skills, bother verbal and written Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment A good sense of humor and energetic disposition An eagerness to contribute to a rapidly growing hospitality company What you’ll do Review the accounting of the company to ensure it aligns with GAAP, identifies concerns and educates our accounting leaders on how to correct before annual audits commence Engage on sales and equity transactions, debt refinancing, and other infrequent activities while lending their GAAP expertise and guidance in accounting for these situations Review intercompany balances monthly to ensure transactions are correctly reported across the company Monitor balance sheet reconciliations regularly to ensure items are supported and cleared in a timely manner Develop and implement GAAP – compliant accounting policies and processes Leads the annual audit and tax processes with our external accounting firm Facilitates the timely reporting necessary to achieve all tax and reporting deadlines Leverages industry expertise to contribute to the company’s growth and success Always establishes and maintains positive and collaborative working relationship Other necessary duties as reasonably assigned Physical Demand Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time Ability to bend Ability to lift, pull 50 lbs Ability to communicate clearly Ability to work long hours as needed Mental Demands Make sound judgments quickly Work on multiple tasks, making appropriate progress towards deadlines Able to work independently, take direction, and provide direction to others Manage differing personalities within the property, the resort, and the community Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality Ability to work effectively in stressful, high pressure situations Ability to effectively handle challenges in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary Mainsail Lodging & Development is a proud equal opportunity/affirmative action employer committed to attracting, retaining, and maximizing the performance of a diverse and inclusive workforce.
