Description

SAIC is actively seeking a Field Engineer to support the HWIL Modeling Simulation Development (HMSD) team in Huntsville, AL. The ideal candidate is a graduate from a technical school or an Army veteran that was trained in the area of electronics. The candidate must be able to solder surface mount components on printed circuit boards and assist with circuit card assembly testing, build military cables with associated mil-spec connectors from engineering drawings, able to use a computer, enter data in a database, and have organizational skills, such as tracking hardware inventory. Has proficiency in all phases of mechanical and prototype assembly. Identifies areas requiring product improvement and implements upgrades and hardware engineering change orders. Follows test procedures to diagnose and resolve product performance problems. The candidate selected for this position will work in a small team that assembles and integrates limited quantities of various Army training prototype and mature systems. The candidate should be willing and able to perform a 2-person lift of 150 lbs. Workload and skill sets change continuously. Flexibility and the ability to work with others are vital. The facility is an SEI Level 4 quality operation and therefore expects consistently high quality output from all employees.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years or more experience; four (4) years' experience can be accepted in lieu of degree
Required Clearance:
  • Interim Secret required prior to employment with the ability to obtain full Secret Clearance.
Required Skills:
  • Solder surface mount components on printed circuit boards
  • Test and troubleshoot circuit card assemblies
  • Assemble and integrate computer hardware circuits and components to be used in Army training devices
  • Perform a wide range of complex electro-mechanical assembly operations
  • Under limited supervision use tools such as multi-meters, drills, soldering irons, precision measuring instruments, and other hand-held tools
  • Follows verbal and written instructions such as schematics, assembly layouts, engineering drawings, and sketches in completing a wide variety of assembly and sub-assembly tasks
  • Can follow wiring diagrams and is able to assemble cables, crimp pins, and perform continuity checks
  • Perform quality checks

SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.
