JOB SUMMARY
The position of Credit Review Officer is responsible for providing credit decision makers with an in-depth, independent risk analysis and underwriting necessary for making informed credit decisions for both commercial (C&I and CRE) and individual borrowers. This position requires a blend of analytical expertise and sound judgment, as the Credit Review Officer evaluates the creditworthiness of borrowers, ensuring alignment with the bank's risk appetite and regulatory guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The duties listed below may not include all responsibilities that the person in this role may be asked to perform. Incumbent may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
- Conduct comprehensive credit analyses for loan requests, including reviewing financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, and other relevant documentation.
- Collaborate with loan officers to clarify borrower details, address potential concerns, and ensure a thorough understanding of each borrower's unique circumstances and be able to make recommendation on appropriate loan structure and terms.
- Prepare detailed underwriting reports that summarize findings and recommendations for senior management and credit committees.
- Collaborate with loan officers and other stakeholders to provide insights and guidance on credit policies and procedures.
- Stay up to date on banking regulations changes, as well as industry trends and economic factors that impact underwriting and risk practices.
- Occasionally join loan officers on calls or site visits with prospects or customers.
- May represent the Bank in various community, civic, and community reinvestment functions to further enhance the Bank's image and develop additional business.
- Performs a variety of tasks including projects as requested by the Credit Review Manager. Projects routinely require a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
- Take part in training and mentoring of other department team members and support staff.
- Reinforces the application of superior customer service through his or her own example along with appropriate follow through with involved customers and employees.
- Embraces change, acting as an advocate and role model and promoting a mindset of continuous improvement.
BANK SECRECY ACT (BSA)
All employees of Vantage Bank Texas, herein referenced to as the "Bank", must comply with the terms of the BSA Policy upon acceptance of this position. The primary responsibility for enforcement of this policy and its operating procedures rests with the BSA/AML/OFAC Officer. However, it is the responsibility of each employee to take the required BSA training modules and become familiar with and adhere to the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti Money Laundering and Office of Foreign Asset Control Policy.

QUALIFICATIONS
These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (B.A. or B.S.) required.
- 2+ years of work experience as a commercial underwriter, credit analyst and/or financial analyst.
- Proven track record in analyzing and underwriting all types of loans for both C&I and CRE borrowers.
- Strong proficiency in financial analysis including, but not limited to balance sheet and income statement analysis, tax return analysis, cash flow analysis (both C&I and CRE).
- Familiarity with financial spreading software. Optional, but advantageous for experience with Moody's CreditLens and Bukers Taxanalysis.
- Strong understanding of banking regulations, compliance standards, and risk management practices.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial statements, tax returns, and other business-related documents in detail.
- Basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Basic typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
- Ability to effectively interact with customers, colleagues, and management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively present the information and respond to questions and comments.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage multiple assignments.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision while performing the stated duties.
