Senior Accounting Specialist Job Description:

This role will be assisting a contractor providing design and construction services to a diversified base of Government agencies across the nation. The Senior Accounting Specialist responsible for supporting a wide range of duties relating to the management of accounting functions.

Job Responsibilities
  • Compiling and entering financial information, reconciling accounts, and assisting with tax reports
  • Maintain accurate financial records by entering all accounts receivable and accounts payable information
  • Provide financial status information by preparing special reports and completing special projects
  • Correct errors by posting and adjusting journal entries
  • Keep general ledger accounts by reconciling accounts receivable detail and control accounts; reconcile retainage and accounts payable ledgers
  • Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures; comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements
  • Explain accounting policies to staff, vendors, and customers
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications
  • Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Perform a variety of other duties as assigned and special projects as needed
Requirements:
Senior Accounting Specialist Job Requirements:
  • 5+ years of bookkeeping experience required
  • College degree in Business required, Accounting or Finance preferred
  • Previous payroll processing experience required
  • Expert with Microsoft Excel
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Solid interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Superior communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to stay organized and complete multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
