Position Summary: The Vice President, Finance and Administration is the senior staff member responsible for the organization's financial and risk management. The VP is responsible for policy, staffing and operation management in support of financial operation objectives. Primary areas of responsibility include accounting, cash management, budgeting, audit coordination, and government and United Way Worldwide regulatory compliance. The VP will oversee and assure quality services are delivered to other operating departments of United Way of the Midlands, the Board of Directors, its committees, donors, partner agencies, other United Ways and regulatory organizations.

Key Responsibilities Develop short and long-term policies and strategies that ensure accountability in service delivery; define measurable outcomes and establish robust internal controls. Oversee operations including budgeting, financial forecasting, staffing, and reporting, and ensure information systems are implemented to support organizational needs. Ensure compliance and reporting with all government and United Way Worldwide regulations and standards. Secure the physical and financial assets of the organization by exercising risk management best practices. Collaborate with the Board of Directors, its committees, and senior management to achieve organizational goals. Ensure implementation of all United Way Worldwide membership standards. Lead the preparation of annual budgets and budget reporting and manage the audit process. Lead and oversee asset protection activities, including but not limited to recording pledge revenues, collection of pledges receivable, ensuring adequate internal controls, risk management, investment policies and strategies, and cash management. Oversees HR, building management, and conference center

Qualifications Degree in Accounting or Business; Master’s degree preferred. 7-10 years experience in senior financial management role; prior experience in nonprofit accounting preferred. Experience in automated accounting and control systems. Good verbal and written communications skills. Good interpersonal skills. Leadership and project management skills necessary to bring about change and adapt to increasing or changing functional requirements.
