Courageous Sailing Courageous Sailing is a nonprofit community sailing and youth development organization committed to providing people of all ages and backgrounds with opportunities to learn, sail, and enjoy the waterfront. We work at two locations in Boston: the Charlestown Navy Yard on Boston Harbor, and the Historic Jamaica Pond Boathouse in Jamaica Plain. Our mission is to transform lives through sailing programs that inspire learning, personal growth, and leadership.

Dates/Time:

This is a part-time, seasonal position — April-November — with potential for additional off-season work. Schedules can be tailored to individual availability. Some weekend availability is a requirement of this position.

Position Overview Courageous Sailing is seeking an Events Coordinator to assist our Events Director for the 2024 season.

Responsibilities

Event Planning and Execution:

Assist the Events Director with management and organization of all fundraising, pier rental, and group events

Assist with communication clients and prospects

With the Events Director, build and maintain a detailed schedule for all events; proactively communicate schedules and critical details with all stakeholders — clients, vendors, volunteers, and staff. Respond within one business day to all event requests and concerns.

Assist with scheduling event staff and volunteers

Cultivate, manage, and oversee event-related volunteerism at Courageous

Organize all necessary contracts and permits for upcoming events

Marketing and Sales:

With the Events Director, implement a promotional calendar

Communicate key messaging to the broader Courageous community through a social media presence.

With the Events Director, plan and leverage events for fundraising opportunities

Assist with the solicitation and coordination of in-kind donation of event materials (beverages, auction items, etc.)

With the Events Director, maintain and organize sponsorships and auction catalogs, set-up, day-of coordination, and staff management, as well as track attendance, ticket sales, donations, and receipt of any auction or raffle winnings (utilizing Courageous’s CRM database and online event-management platform)

Conduct site reviews and build relationships with event planners and caterers in the area

Act as an additional contact for all pier rental inquiries and helping to track and schedule all events

Work with City Hall to obtain all seasonal and one-day event licenses

Job Qualifications:

Degree from four-year college or university and five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

Enthusiasm and passion for the mission of Courageous

Must be detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects and initiatives

Strong analytical skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Comfortable giving and receiving feedback and resolving disputes

Advanced Microsoft Office skills

Experience in working at non-profit organization is desirable

Prior sailing experience strongly preferred
