Summary Objective

The purpose of this position is to supervise marketing, corporate sponsorship, and advertising functions for special events including holiday and seasonal events for the public. This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals. Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed. Supervises marketing and advertising functions, and contacts businesses to sponsor special events, activities, and programs. Creates and designs advertising and sponsorship materials, and conducts sales presentations to potential clients. Negotiates prices and services for sponsorship of events and programs. Conducts tours of facilities. Reviews sales reports, and evaluates sponsorship sales to determine effectiveness and attainment of goals and objectives. Prepares revenue sponsorship and event budgets, and monitors expenditures. Performs related work as assigned. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business or Public Administration or related discipline. Three (3) years of retail sales, customer service, marketing, fundraising, public relations, or development experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations. UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS (WORK ENVIRONMENT)
