This pivotal supervisory position is essential for supporting the Banquet Manager in the effective management and operational delivery of Banquet and Meeting services.

The Event Operations Supervisor acts as a key hourly paid assistant manager to the Banquet Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume full responsibility and accountability for an event from the initial planning and preparation stages, through to the successful execution and breakdown of the event, and into the post-event processes.
  • Embrace a stewardship role within the department and the hotel to ensure operational excellence.
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce all hotel and departmental standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in the development of additional standards, policies, and procedures for the department.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the entire department at all times.
  • Encourage and support effective communication within the department and hotel through various channels including phones, voice-mail, radios, written correspondence, and verbal interactions.
  • Ensure effective, confidential, and secure record-keeping, including associate and guest information.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of proper forecasting and scheduling, along with accurate and timely payroll procedures.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of: CI and accounts receivable systems and procedures; scheduled in-house group names and details; order of service and traffic flow in event areas; correct use and maintenance of equipment; all departmental standards and service procedures; pricing for specified selections of cash functions.
  • Prepare consumption forms in advance for all necessary event orders to guarantee accurate billing.
  • Participate in, or lead, all meetings as directed by the Banquet Manager.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date information on Event Orders.
  • Assist in the preparation of "BEO Packets," notify staff of time changes, make necessary copies, and post all required sheets or communications.
  • Help in copying, posting, and distributing "Dailies."
  • Maintain complete and accurate information in the accordion file according to established standards.
  • Ensure all buffet and product signage is created for all events.
  • Delegate specific primary and secondary duties to respective staff members and follow up with coaching, praise, or guidance.
  • Stay informed of current trends to provide the most up-to-date products and services.

Essential Skills:

  • Must be at least 19 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • Knowledge of various food-service styles (plated, buffet, French, Russian, Table-Side, Butler Service).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with strong administrative, mathematical, accounting, and supervisory skills; previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English with guests, management, staff, and co-workers.
  • Ability to provide clear and legible written communication.
  • Knowledge of effective office organizational practices.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Education and Experience:

  • Previous service or leadership experience is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of banquet experience, preferably in a four-diamond property.
