Job Summary The Regional Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for the oversight and development of Skagit Regional Health’s strategies and activities related to: Service line growth, marketing, internal and external communications, strategic planning, media and public relations. Serves on rotation as Public Information Officer for Skagit Regional Health. Works effectively and cooperatively within the workplace. Location/Department specific tasks and competencies may apply. Essential Functions Internal and External Communications: Assures organizational alignment with Board-adopted vision, mission and values as well as specific organization strategies. Maintains the consistency and strength of Skagit Regional Health key messages. Develops and implements employee communications strategies to provide timely internal communications to align employees with organizational objectives, strategies and vision. Provides oversight for internal communications including the intranet, Weekly Wednesday Email, Monday Leader Update and other memos. Ability to craft detailed communications plans and issues management documents. Marketing and Strategic Development: Assists in the development of the annual marketing plan and assures the plan is cost effective and within the adopted budget. Monitors, analyzes and reports on Skagit Regional Health market share statistics. Works with service line leaders, strategy, business development and physician relations to assure optimum results from growth efforts. Tracks data to determine success of marketing efforts. Works with team to develop recommendations for strategies to increase SRH market share. Oversees the creation, development, production and distribution of marketing materials including website, digital assets, social media, brochures, video productions, direct mail, magazine and other promotional pieces. Brand Management: Ensures the consistency and strength of Skagit Regional Health’s key messages, appropriate use of graphic standards and Skagit Regional Health and Skagit Regional Clinics branding across all marketing avenues and mediums. Media Relations: Guides media relations strategy to create trusting relationships with the press and community. Serves on rotation as Public Information Officer, including on-call shifts, and spokesperson. Takes a lead role in disaster communications. Administration: Supervises personnel assigned to Marketing and Communications Department. Oversees outside vendors such as creative agency, website developer, digital marketing agency, designers and print vendors. Attention to detail to manage the marketing budget. Maintain ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office (Outlook) and department specific software applications to perform work. Communicate effectively and cooperatively in the workplace. Actively contribute to the achievement of Quality Improvement and Lean Process Improvement activities. Complete all mandatory learning requirements in a timely manner. Attend and actively participate in all department, team and/or committee meetings. Comply with all Skagit Regional Health, department and location specific policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by the Regional Vice President, Marketing and Communications or designee. Other Skills Must be self-motivated with strong leadership qualities. Requires innovation and a team orientation. Must be comfortable with organizational and departmental change. Must be able to communicate effectively – verbally and in writing – with all levels of the organization and as a representative of the organization to the general public. Must be able to establish trusting relationships with community leaders and other outside organizations. Must be able to perform in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Ability to meet deadlines and work with a team to meet deadlines. Requires strong working knowledge of strategic planning, communications, graphic arts, desktop publishing, photography, printing, writing, media relations, marketing concepts and program development. Must possess demonstrated computer competencies in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and must be comfortable with learning new management software applications. Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time when working in the office. Repetitive tasks such as typing, sitting, answering phones, and interacting with computers and computer systems most of the day is a function of the position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus. This position requires working in an indoor, environmentally controlled environment when in the office. Skagit Regional Health offers a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision, 457b/401a (retirement), long term disability, and paid time off to all employees holding an FTE of 20 or more hours per week. Eligible employees also receive sick time pay. Experience/Training At least six (6) years’ experience in marketing, public relations required. At least three (3) years’ experience in management required. Work in the healthcare industry, particularly in an acute care hospital setting or Public Hospital District, strongly preferred.
