Team Lead - Press Operation

1st Shift

Chatsworth, California, United States

Job Summary

As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for providing leadership that results in sustained individual and organizational excellence, and supports the mission and values of the organization. You will, additionally, be responsible for understanding the importance of, and be able to, provide the necessary support and encouragement to members of your work group as a coach, and counselor which results in a climate that:

  • provides a positive emotional atmosphere
  • rewards and recognizes accomplishments and initiative in visible, personal ways
  • builds self-confidence

Responsibilities for Team Lead:

Responsibilities of a Team Leader will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  1. Provides and/or obtains the necessary training and instruction required by the team members in carrying out activities of the work area.
  2. Coordinate the setting of the preplan with the team, including; machine and personnel process assignments, necessary gauging, tooling and required support, and assure compliance to established Standard Procedures and Quality Instructions.
  3. Facilitate activities of the team to ensure production and process quality to include:
    • First Article inspection;
    • adherence to quality procedures;
    • SPC;
    • gauging practices;
    • document control (daily production targets);
    • clear understanding of applicable quality requirements.
  1. Facilitate production and quality improvements in the work area to assure such items as:
    • machine and personnel efficiency (cycle times);
    • scrap reduction;
    • process improvements (better tooling and set-up times).
  1. Maintain and promote good communications among all team members on all shifts, between teams, and with all necessary support function personnel. Also, assure necessary feedback is provided to department heads.
  2. To participate, as necessary, in machine or process set-up, operation, inspection or other such tasks to achieve team goals.
  3. Assure maintenance of the work area to include attention to:
    • housekeeping;
    • equipment condition;
    • general organization of the work stations;
    • storage and handling of parts.

2nd & 3rd Shift leads:

  • Oversee safety & security rules & assure company policies are followed.
  • Insure instructions from department Team Leads are followed by 2nd & 3rd shift employees.
  • Handle 2nd & 3rd shift administrative duties.
  • Oversee emergency contingencies

Skills:

Minimum five (5) years of progressive NHBB Primary operations experience

Ability to lift 40 lbs.

Education/Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive NHBB machine shop operations experience required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Able to be flexible and respond to the changing needs of the organization

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to effectively interface with staff and leadership, i.e. strong interpersonal & communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to be accountable for achieving required results

Note: Physical job requirements may include standing, use of hands to assemble and or carry out job functions as well as sitting, lifting, carrying, bending and stooping during the course of the job.
Ability to lift 40 lbs.
