Early Childhood Director

Summary of Employment:

The Early Childhood Director works on the development, organization, implementation, coordination, marketing and evaluation of the Prekindergarten and Preschool instructional programs to ensure that all students will meet or exceed the State Core Curriculum Content Standards. The Directors has the responsibility of Preschool and Prekindergarten management, supervision, and oversight of all leveled classrooms, all educators charged with the education of those children in each classroom, and the overall responsibility for each student enrolled in the program. The Director promotes the growth of each child's spiritual, physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development in a nurturing a Christlike environment. The Director works collaboratively and under the supervision of the St. Joseph School Principal.

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Treat matters of school business and student information in a confidential manner
* Be punctual, trustworthy, cooperative, and work without direct supervision
* Work well with parents, students, faculty and staff and assist them whenever possible / necessary
* Be self-initiating, possess excellent organizational skills, see things that need to be done and plan for them
* Organize and maintain accurate and complete student records
* Participate in team meetings and faculty meetings with the rest of the St. Joseph Faculty and staff.
* Assist and support employees in the daily operations and programming of the classroom
* Continue professional growth by attending courses, workshops, asking for feedback and reading professional literature.
* Demonstrate knowledge of ages and stages of development. Demonstrate flexibility and openness to new ideas in child care practices, and develop implementation plans
* Consult with parents and teachers as needed
* Examines accounts receivable on a monthly basis and follows up with families that are past due, inputs all billing information, sends monthly bills out, and makes sure that receivables stay current, while working closely with the MCS Controller and Business Office
* Implements a transition program for parents to help them smoothly transition from the EEP program to SJS Kindergarten, in collaboration with the SJS Principal
* Processing monthly state funding paperwork
* Completion of all state required early childhood training and certification for state licensing and STAR program
* Oversees the SJS PALS program and staffing scheduling
* Oversees and plans for all Early Childhood summer care offerings

PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Be accessible and available to parents and respond promptly with respect, sensitivity, interest and cooperation to their concerns.
* Be in close proximity to parents/guardians during drop-off and pick-up times outside the building.
* Keep Principal informed of parental concerns and issues if they escalate.
* Establish and sustaining a sense of community through parent involvement and promoting parent retention.
* Serve as a resource for families offering articles, parent information boards, newsletters and community contacts.
* Plan and lead center events, parent training and educational programs.

REQUIREMENTS:
* Have a love and willingness to serve children and their families. Support and cultivate a Christlike environment that supports the MCS and EEPs mission.
* Demonstrate outstanding written and oral communication and organizational skills.
* Must be at least 21 years of age.
* Meet federal as well as individual state requirements (i.e., TB test, physical, criminal background checks).
* Preferred educational requirements related degree (Masters, Bachelors, or Associates) in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies or related field or Child Care Certificate or Credentials including STARS certification.
* A minimum of 2 years, verifiable experience in a licensed child care center or family day care home or supervised teaching practicum is preferred. Supervision of staff experience is preferred.
* Must be willing to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within 3 months of employment.
* Demonstrate knowledge and ability to lead staff in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
* Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
* Must be computer literate, and demonstrate the capacity to understand the SJS EEP financial duties.
