Job Summary

The FOPs Scheduler is responsible for maintaining the Master Schedule, managing Time Off Requests (TORs) and Leaves of Absence (LOAs), and ensuring all open shifts, including Temporary Assignment Shifts (TASs) and Post Extras (PEs), are covered. This role requires overseeing the schedule to ensure that when the copy forward triggers on Saturday at midnight, 100% of the shifts are filled, ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Master Schedule, including managing TORs and LOAs.
  • Cover all open shifts, including TASs and PEs.
  • Ensure business rules are followed when locating suitable candidates.
  • Prioritize more difficult shifts first (e.g., shifts requiring higher clearance).
  • Use qualified post extras first.
  • Check for any shift request cases and text officers who have shown interest and will not go into overtime.
  • Use filters on the Bubo Gantt to find qualified and available individuals and text them for coverage.
  • Minimize overtime.
  • View scheduled hours on the Gantt to avoid putting officers in overtime.
  • Communicate with your lead for approval if overtime is the only option.
  • Address Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) considerations when applicable.
  • When all unassigned shifts for the next week are covered, schedule openings further out.

Qualifications

  • Professional experience in scheduling or a related information area.
  • Excellent analytical skills, capable of analyzing information from various sources and presenting it concisely and comprehensively.
  • Ability to effectively work within a team and manage workload efficiently.
  • Strong negotiation and persuasion skills to facilitate schedule management in line with service needs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adequate computer knowledge, including the use of spreadsheets and databases.
  • Strong organizational and self-management skills to manage and lead projects accurately and effectively.
  • Ability to utilize information to foster acceptance of change or development and influence the adoption of new practices.
