Rapid changes in media technology, content creation, and information consumption have democratized information and empowered new voices. They have also opened the floodgates for an overabundance of information to be pushed in front of people, everywhere, all the time-making it harder to access quality content and to discern trustworthy information on questions that impact our health.

At the Information Futures Lab (IFL), students and researchers work alongside community organizations, journalists, civic society leaders, and other sources of trusted information to envision a better future for our information spaces. Together, the Lab improves local information ecosystems and supports people in effectively accessing, creating, and making sense of information that is crucial to their wellbeing.

The Associate Director of Program and Research Management is committed to driving forward the IFL's mission and evaluating the success of the mission.

The Associate Director leads the strategic direction in producing training programs, products and publications tailored for both academic and practitioner audiences. By sharing research-supported best practices in pedagogy and related disciplines, they extend the ripple effect of IFL's impact management, catalyzing broader conversations and fostering meaningful change beyond the Lab's immediate sphere.

Collaboratively working with the leadership team, the Associate Director forges a robust framework for measuring impact across diverse dimensions of IFL's endeavors. This framework in turn informs the Lab's research, fellowship programs, training, communications, partnerships, The Information Project (TIP), etc. By setting forth clear criteria and methodologies, the Associate Director paves the way for a rigorous and data-driven approach to understanding the influence of IFL's efforts.

Collaborating with IFL Co-directors, the Associate Director leverages a profound understanding of research landscapes, coupled with an awareness of evolving practices spanning across academia, the private sector, community organizations and think tanks, to drive collaboration in information related disciplines. The Associate Director supports the Lab's research on health information issues, ensuring findings are effectively communicated. Their expertise guides the oversight of research endeavors, strategic planning, and the dissemination of IFL's overall work.
