RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Compliance

  • Serves as the Agency's Compliance Officer, r esponsible for overseeing Mercy Haven's compliance with government laws and regulations.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Compliance function within the Agency; creating an annual calendar of Compliance audits and activities.

  • Oversees and monitors the implementation of the Compliance Program, including promoting use of the Compliance Hotline; awareness of Standards of Conduct, and monitoring OMIG and other regulatory websites for changes and updates.

  • Conducts the Corporate Compliance meetings quarterly or as needed, ensuring that the board is kept up to date on any pertinent matters related to compliance.

  • Ensures all employees, students, volunteers, interns and members of the Board of Directors adhere to all aspects of the Corporate Compliance Plan and Code of Ethics.

  • Ensures that all certifications required by the New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General are completed and forwarded as appropriate.

  • Develops and oversees policies and programs that encourage managers and employees to report suspected non-compliance without fear of retaliation or intimidation, maintaining the Compliance log and tracking employee complaints.

  • Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/oversees the corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues.

  • Conduct HIPAA audits, monitoring any Corrective Action Plans.


Leadership, Management and Supervision

  • Orients, trains, supervises and evaluates compliance team members

  • Responsible for ensuring that Staff and Board understand their roles and responsibilities related to HIPAA, as well as all other areas of regulatory compliance.

  • Develops and periodically reviews and updates Standards of Conduct to ensure continuing currency and relevance in providing guidance to management and employees.

  • Responsible for the dissemination of information retrieved from meetings to appropriate staff

  • Monitors the development and review of Policies and Procedures.

  • Works with the AED on the development and oversight of the Strategic Plan.

  • Works with HR and others as appropriate to develop an effective overall compliance training program and individual workshops

  • Works with the program leadership on program development and the creation of business plans for new and expanded services.

  • Fosters an environment of trust and cooperation between program staff and other departments.


Incident Management

  • Serves as the lead investigator on all significant incidents reportable to the Justice Center.

  • Oversees the agency incident reporting process, ensuring regular staff training, leading agency incident meetings and follow up with consultants involved in process, monitoring follow through on recommendations and maintaining records required for audits.


Quality Assurance & Quality Improvement

  • Establishes audit controls to ensure compliance with billing procedures, record keeping and other requirements as deemed necessary.

  • Performs monthly reviews of Service Authorizations, documentation, and Exclusion list before billing monthly.

  • Monitors internal audits related to service documentation, billing reports, HR staff qualifications audits, etc.

  • Responsible for quality assurance, monitoring that clinical services meets the appropriate established standards, guidelines, and regulations through regular review of chart audits, documentation, and other activities that ensure quality-of-care standards.

  • Works with program leadership on internal audits related to all aspects of agency programming including but not limited to environmental standards, food, programming and participation in external activities.

  • Oversees data collection and outcome reporting, collaborating with program management, on implementation and tracking of quality improvement initiatives.

  • Works with program management on the development, dissemination, recommendations and data reporting related to participant satisfaction surveys.


System Administration

  • System Administrator of the Electronic Health Record system, working with Managers and Directors to ensure accuracy of data.

  • Serves as the system administrator for external systems ensuring appropriate staff are set up, removed and trained on the systems.

  • Assume other duties as required.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree Preferred

  • LMSW/LCSW/LMFT/LMHC Preferred

  • Supervisory Experience required

  • Experience with writing and reviewing policies and procedures required

  • Valid NYS Driver's License with a safe driving record, access to a personal and reliable vehicle

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Required, Electronic Medical Record Experience preferred

  • Physical Requirements: remains stationary for long periods of time in the office, moves intermittently throughout the office during work hours, reaching overhead, may push or pull 15-20 pounds daily, repetitive wrist/finger movement, read/write reports and use computer on daily basis, ability to drive to other work sites on occasion


Shift: Full-time (37.5 hours) Monday through Friday (8:30 am to 4:30 pm)
