Reporting to the Associate Director of Financial Aid the Student Assistants will work collaboratively with other colleagues within Enrollment and Success to guide students and their families through the financial aid application process and their status regarding financial aid. The Financial Aid Student assistant will act as a first responder for the financial aid office, providing welcoming, courteous, prompt and accurate information, as well as providing support with data collection, research, and reporting The New School is strongly committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace and particularly seeks applications from members of underrepresented groups, as well as candidates who share this commitment. Responsibilities: Respond to phone calls from prospective/returning students and their families providing friendly, accurate, and timely information about their financial aid Develop knowledge of the different colleges within the new school, degree programs, and majors Assist students with the application process, providing information on application deadlines, and requirements Provide prospective/returning students and families Financial Aid information Query callers to appropriately triage inquiries within the FA department and to other university departments (admissions, student accounts, registrar, open campus, housing) Assist newly/returning admitted students with the financial aid process Collect data regarding phone call volume, type, and response time, and summarize in reports Aid with the maintenance of a database for commonly asked financial aid questions, updating responses throughout the academic year Provide research support on various operations projects Light filing Additional projects and ad hoc reports as needed Assist in managing our Virtual Zoom Meeting Room Hourly Rate: $18.00 an hour Work Mode: Hybrid/Remote – Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice . Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions. Minimum Qualifications: Qualifications: Experience working in a professional office setting Customer service and visitor experience a must Interest in higher education and office experience a plus Friendly and kind demeanor, attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong understanding of The New School’s programs Familiarity with campus (I.e. offices, computer centers, location of departments, etc).
