Financial Aid Counselor

The Financial Aid Counselor plays a crucial role in overseeing financial aid applicants and recipients, ensuring adherence to established regulations. This position demands analytical skills and a commitment to ethical practices to effectively support the university community.

We are currently seeking candidates for three available positions, offering a competitive salary range of $48,300 - $55,000.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer various institutional and federal financial aid programs.
  • Manage a designated caseload through an organized queue system.
  • Review existing policies and suggest enhancements for regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct thorough financial data analysis to determine aid eligibility.
  • Assess applications and supporting documentation.
  • Evaluate requests for exceptions and adjustments to financial aid awards.
  • Analyze system-generated reports to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in outreach efforts, student retention initiatives, and reporting tasks.
  • Prepare necessary documents for imaging and archiving.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with at least one year of experience in student services.
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent with four years of experience in a financial aid office.
  • Familiarity with Title IV regulations and financial aid needs assessment.
  • Experience with Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) and National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) is preferred.
  • Bi-lingual abilities are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in public speaking and familiarity with student information systems.
