Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Financial Aid, the Student Coordinators will collaborate with colleagues within Enrollment and Success to assist students and their families throughout the financial aid application process and provide updates on their financial aid status.

The Financial Aid Student Coordinator will serve as a primary point of contact for the financial aid office, delivering friendly, prompt, and accurate information while supporting data collection, research, and reporting efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
• Respond to inquiries from prospective and returning students and their families, offering friendly, accurate, and timely information regarding financial aid
• Acquire knowledge about the various colleges within The New School, including degree programs and majors
• Assist students with the application process, providing guidance on deadlines and requirements
• Offer financial aid information to prospective and returning students and their families
• Assess inquiries to appropriately direct them within the Financial Aid department and to other university departments (such as admissions, student accounts, registrar, open campus, housing)
• Support newly or returning admitted students with the financial aid process
• Collect and summarize data on call volume, types of inquiries, and response times for reporting purposes
• Aid in maintaining a database of frequently asked financial aid questions, updating responses throughout the academic year
• Provide research assistance on various operational projects
• Perform light filing tasks
• Undertake additional projects and ad hoc reporting as needed
• Assist in managing our Virtual Zoom Meeting Room

Compensation:
$18.00 per hour

Work Environment:


This position operates in a hybrid/remote model, with employees primarily working remotely and occasional on-campus presence required with prior notice. Employees are expected to use their discretion to be on campus when necessary to fulfill their job responsibilities effectively.


Minimum Qualifications:
• Experience in a professional office environment
• Strong customer service and visitor experience skills
• Interest in higher education and office experience is advantageous
• Friendly demeanor with attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Solid understanding of The New School's programs
• Familiarity with campus resources (e.g., offices, computer centers, department locations)
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Compliance with University Covid Policy is required
